The place seems cute BUT experience is UGLY! Conclusion: Store owner is rude, unfriendly and discriminative. I ordered an ice-cream and some pastry, sitting in the store. Firstly, a lady came to me, saying Japanese. I asked for English. A second lady came with a card in both Japanese and English, saying 'the seat in store was only reserved for consumers who order cakes. For ice cream, please sit by the chair by flower shop'. I nodded and pointed to the English part, 'where is that then'. She just went away without asking. And then a man seemingly store owner or head of pastry came, explaining the rules again, saying no cake no seat. I said, 'you said I got somewhere to sit, please tell me where.' He insisted no seat, saying 'go-go', with arms waving towards the door, as if he would like to personally push me out of the door. I asked for 'English notice', he refused. I insisted again, 'Just bring me back the card'. He came back with the card. I pointed specifically to 'chairs by the flower', asking where that is. He said half 'sorry'. It seems that he intuitively would like to say sorry but withdrew in last moment. And he said it was old information, no seat now, and saying go-go again. I was really angry, because I would like to honor the rules, and I was waiting for a clear instruction on ice-cream seat. All I got was these trashy attitude. So I asked again, 'So this card is wrong information?' In his word, 'not wrong, but out-dated'. I could not take that for an answer, given all these rude gestures and questioning I have been going through. I asked again, 'right or wrong' The man just came in to the counter and did not talk to me anymore. I stormed after him to the counter, 'You should apologize for wrong information.' One ridiculous answer happened. In a store with English menu, English notice and those not good English talking, the man said, 'Japanese only!' I ended up not eating the ice-cream anymore and returned the pastry I bought. To the owner or maybe head chef: It is perfectly acceptable you have rules, and it is OK if you make mistakes sometimes. And if you are losing temper because of bad English, it is understandable. But being rude based on misleading store information and failure to admit your mistakes, SHAME on you! SHAME on your family education! Maybe your father would actually be proud that his son stood up for his pathetic manhood arrogance today. (Of course I am...
Read moreRude Staff, Unwelcoming Experience – Avoid This Shop! We entered the store, waited patiently, and when it was finally our turn, the male staff ignored us at first. Then, without any explanation, he coldly said, “Take out only, OK?!?!” in the rudest tone imaginable.
There was an open table when we entered the store, so we tried to communicate—asking if we could wait for a seat or why dine-in wasn’t allowed—but he just repeated, “No. You must leave. Take out only, OK?!?!” It was raining outside, and we genuinely wanted to try their desserts, but we were essentially kicked out without proper customer service.
It was only 2PM - nowhere near closing time. Every dessert type still had at least 2-4 pieces available (some even had full displays). So we were truly confused why he wanted to kick us out so badly. The "Thanks for visiting" (in Japanese) when we stepped out from the store was in the most disrepectful tone I have ever heard. Yes, he started the unpleasant conversation in English, and close it in Japanese, all as he wished, without considering our feelings. We were embarrased and humiliated in front of other customers.
The shop’s desserts (mostly fruit mousse cups) also didn’t match Google’s photos, which showed actual cakes. But worse than the misleading menu was the hostile attitude. The staff made no effort to explain or accommodate—just outright rejection.
The most unfortunate and heartbreaking fact is—this was actually the shop we looked forward to the most in all of Kanazawa. We went straight there right after getting off the Shinkansen, and this was the treatment we received.
If you don’t welcome customers, at least train your staff to communicate politely. Also, just because he can't speak English, why would he assume we couldn't...
Read moreI was walking back to my accommodation and happened to pass this place, so decided to take a peak inside. And I’m glad I did. They have a variety of sweets and desserts to choose from, so you should be able to find something you fancy. I went with the basque cheesecake and the canele. The canele was really tasty, with a crunchy outside and soft, chewy inside. But the basque cheesecake was absolutely fantastic. One of the better ones I’ve had in Japan. There are a few seats for dining in, but you can takeaway as well. The service was fast and friendly, and the prices were...
