Stayed for 2 nights at this hotel on our last leg of our trip. It is set on the main road and shopping area of Kanazawa, walking distance from Omicho market. The hotel is beautiful, spacious and clean. As you walk in, there is an area for shoe removal with many lockers. Shoes are to be put away without having to drag your dirt to the hotel rooms. Great idea! Why can’t they do that for all hotels? lol… We had to check in after 3 p.m. even though we arrived fairly early in the day but they were kind enough to store our luggage for us we explored the city. The rooms are spacious and clean, the bathrooms are tiny and that is because they encourage guests to experience their onsen on the 13th floor. Towels and outfits are provided. If you have never been to a public bath, please do not be an ignorant foreigner and ignore the signs. TAKE A SHOWER before entering the hot tubs and leave your dirty towels on your head and NOT in the hot tub. We tried the breakfast at the hotel restaurant on our last day and thoroughly enjoyed the food. They have a sashimi bar, tempura bar, salad bar, fried foods and pickles, as well as fruit, dessert and pastries. The coffee machine is great and there is hot tea, soft drink beverage station as well as water. We loved the convenience of the hotel and even at checkout, they have self-service kiosks for easy access, and they would also gladly call a taxi service for you if you do not wish to walk back to Kanazawa Station. (Only 1.1km walk - 15 minutes?) The bus loop stops in front of the market so, it is a skip walk away from accessing all the famous spots around Kanazawa. Would highly...
Read moreComfortable bed, clean rooms and as long as you haven't got much luggage, the space is quite good. The onsen is very clean, very big (two large baths, one inside one outside, one cold plunge bath, three small individual tub baths and a sauna. In all that space, even with many people it was not too crowded.
They provide a small ramen meal (very tasty) at night, icecream and Yakult probiotics at different times of day so there's always some form of snack for everyone at no extra cost.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our bags arrived a day or two before we did, they were cared for at no extra cost. We were able to leave them in the lobby after check out until our train later that evening. No shoes allowed throughout the hotel (lockers provided) , the floor was very clean.
Close to Omicho markets (awesome place to try some reasonably priced local cuisine), the samurai district, Kanazawa Castle, the Geisha district. Lots of things to see around the area, all within walking distance.
Disliked - One issue is, there is not a lot of storage space in the rooms, we had one suitcase on top of the small couch and the other had to be laid out in the bed when needed to open, otherwise it just stood closed by the entry way the rest of the time. The only other thing to note is that the elevators operate in an unusual way, we had to wait long times to get from floor to floor. But these were only small...
Read moreCheck in process was not the best. We didn’t feel welcomed at all. The ladies at the concierge are not friendly throughout the 3D stay. The car park is the automated kind where you are unable to access the car park. There is limited space in the drop off/ pick up area, therefore making loading and unloading luggages very cumbersome and causes unnecessary human and car traffic jam. You are required to remove your shoes whenever you step into the hotel, as part of the culture. You are then required to lock your shoes in the lockers provided. This may not be for everyone especially when it rains. The room is small and there is no housekeeping service daily. However, they do provide clean towels which will be hung at your door knob. You are also required to place your trash at your door every morning for the staff to clear. The pillows were rock hard. The onsen area is quite good and the space is bigger with 3 pools - 2 hot (1 indoor and 1 outdoor) and 1 cold pool. It even consists of a sauna. There is also free half-bowl sized ramen daily for supper. Location wise was pretty decent, close to omicho market if that’s in your itinerary. There is also a breakfast place “Doutor” next door which opens from 7am onwards. Despite the onsen and the supper, I will not recommend this place for family. It is more suitable for a short 1 night stay...
