This became my favourite hotel in Kanazawa quite a while ago and it's always a pleasure to return. The staff, as always, were very nice and helpful. I had a twin room this time rather than one with a queen-sized bed. It was well-designed and had a pretty good amount of space. The bed I chose was very comfortable and there was a choice of pillows. The highlight of the room was the beautiful washi paper collage above the beds. There was a small table with two easy chairs - with attractive patterned cushions - which could be used as a desk. Nice touches were a glowing wall lamp near the tv and a ceramic artwork by the door. My wheeled suitcase fitted in the lobby. The air conditioning was adjustable and the wifi was good. The area behind the entrance and the wardrobe shelf where the safe was located were rather dark - it was hard to see the different door magnets (do not disturb etc) properly. ||With the different-sized room, I had a different view - it included more of a little park with cherry trees blossoming as well as the quite interesting street view. The hotel is in an excellent location, within walking distance of the castle and Kenrokuen among many other sights and museums, with lots of shops and eateries within easy reach. Omicho Market is not far either. It's a longer walk but quite possible to Higashi Chaya/Kazuemachi, or the JR Station. Or, there's a bus stop across the road.||It's great to have access to a washing machine and dryer (on the top floor near the onsen), and my bathroom had a retractable clothes line too. The bathroom also had a decent amount of space. There was a nice deep, long bath. Toiletries were available downstairs in the lobby. PJs and in-house slippers were provided. ||As usual there was a great range of delicious breakfast choices (particularly the Japanese ones) presented in beautiful little ceramic bowls or plates, with lovely serving bowls and cups too. I always much enjoy the local speciality "jibuni", a chicken or duck soup, but everything was good.||See...
Read moreI had another great 3-night stay in a superior king room in mid-November 2024. As before, the room was comfortable and spacious, with a beautiful Futamata washi collage above the bed, as well as a washi paper blind. There was a safe, a fridge, a humidifier and an iron/ironing board. The wi-fi was good. Ample storage space and a decent-sized bathroom. I had a view of the street below and some other buildings beyond. ||The breakfast here is something to look forward to! A wide variety of delicious food with lovely dishes to eat from. ||The staff, I think one young woman particularly, went above and beyond to help me find and visit a medical practice where some English was spoken. I'd had an accident in Morioka and had to have stitches in my chin, and they needed to be removed a week later in Kanazawa. I'd contacted the hotel beforehand for assistance and upon arrival was given the practice details and a printout of a map, along with detailed bus info. I decided to walk as it wasn't that far, and when I arrived I found the hotel staff had rung ahead so I was expected. I didn't have to wait long (there were no appointments so I'd been worried about losing sightseeing time). The doctor didn't speak much English (and I don't speak much Japanese) but they had another medical practice staff member on hand to translate. Everything went well, and when I was next at the hotel the young woman mentioned checked with me as to how it had worked out. It was really good, and much appreciated thank you! ||The hotel is within walking distance of the castle, Kenrokuen, the Nagamachi Buke Yashiki district, various museums and galleries, and shopping and entertainment hubs Korinbo and Katamachi. It's further but you can also walk to Higashi Chaya-Mai and the JR Station, or the loop and other bus stops are close by. ||Looking forward to staying...
Read moreThis is an excellent hotel. The rooms are clean with onsen, and it's located in just the right spot. If you are going back and forth between staying near Kanazawa station and down by Kanazawa castle, I would recommend it down by the castle. Many more things are walkable, and the hotel is situated right in the middle of it all. You also have a 7-11 about 200 yards away and a Family Mart about 100 yards away, so whichever you prefer is right there. We easily walked to the castle, the samurai district, and the Geisha / gold leaf area from the hotel. We did the castle and the Samurai district on the first day, and then the Geisha area and river walk the next morning. It's a bit of a trek to the Geisha area, to be honest, but the same distance if you were staying by the station. The bus stop is right across the street to get back to the station for 210 yen and comes constantly. The room was bigger than small Japanese rooms but smaller than western rooms. They have an excellent Onsen on the 13th floor, and you can look on your TV in the room to see how busy it is. I assume they are counting card scan ins, and you can see, not busy, somewhat busy, and very busy. This made it easy to time your visit. The Onsen itself was wonderful. You can also do a load of laundry and see on your TV when a machine is available and how long is left in your cycle. All and all, an excellent place to stay and classic awesome...
