This pottery making experience was one of the highlights of our family group to Japan last April, we found this seaside town with its many hidden gems in the short 3 days we stayed in Kanazawa. After a tour and brief background explanation of the historic significance of the establishment we got to have a go ourselves! The master was so patient as my sister broke piece after piece and he allowed our group of 5 to squeeze into the 4 wheel booking with a bit of rotation so no one missed out. The small rustic workshop visit was well worth the 35 minute walk from the town centre down side streets ..and the 5 month wait for our work to be dried, cured ,fired and sent to Australia ( very safely packed ) was definitely received with much excitement! Would love to revisit someday. X PS. We had 3 teens aged 14,16,19 and they couldn’t be happier replacing the mobile phones with the wet clay!! Happy days!

What a BRILLIANT holiday craft experience! Thoroughly recommend this fabulous, authentic guided pottery experience, taught by a local master! You even get to have your unique pottery piece sent home for you after your specialised, hands-on small group class! Our teacher was so patient and encouraging-really gave our group of 4 retirees such explicit instructions, we were all thrilled with our “professional” results! Can’t recommend highly enough! Wonderful and memorable!

This was one of our best local experiences in Japan so far! Very nice English speaking staff (a 5th generation master craftsman), very good workshop even for absolute beginners. We had time to try the techniques, even with multiple attempts if we failed, and finally make one piece to "take home" (have it finished by the pottery and ship it to us). It was a lot of fun and a good opportunity to explore Kanazawas crafts away from the tourist spots.
