Unkai Gondola — Local services in Shimukappu

A little expensive, but it was a great activity anyway.

We had come to Tomamu train station and there was a super kind welcome by some bus drivers who offered to bring us to the resort (for free).

This was a wonderful surprise, because we were actually expecting to carry our luggage all that way on foot :D

At the Gondola we just hoped to find a place to store our luggage and luckily they had coin lockers available.

The gondola itself was fine. They are prepared for non-skiing guests who only want to walk around at the top. There’s a viewing deck and a pricey touristy café.

At the bottom station we got ourselves a tasty ramen in their so called „food court“.

Only criticism is that the gondola is a little expensive. We paid 2200¥ just for that one ride...

Sometime after 5am on May 10 & 11, 2025, my wife rode on the gondolas, hoping to see the sights depicted in brochures. The tired gondolas were comfortable for two persons. And I was surprised just when ours was about to out, it kissed the rear of the one before us. The sights should be good but for the accidental blurry...

It's open at 5am we took shuttle bus from hotel, the earliest bus was 4.55am. However upon arriving there were already few hundreds people queueing up.
