Small cozy place tucked in the midst of the Tomamu ski resorts in Hokkaido serving Japanese style Italian food. It's a fairly small restaurant with nice wooden structures, giving off cozy vibes and a nice place to have a family dinner.
Visited there during June of 2024, and had dinner there while staying at the Risonare Tomamu resort. We ordered a few pizzas, pastas, salads, salmon carpaccio, vegetables and meat covered with raclette cheese, and the cheese platter. My favorite among them were the Japanese style pastas, packed with fresh seafood from Hokkaido and some others with cream & tomato sauces (other than the pastas already available there's a separate page on the menu to customize your pasta with selection of noodles, ingredients and sauces). The salads and salmon carpaccio were good, made with really fresh ingredients. The pizzas were alright, it's a 8-9 inch pizza baked in an electric oven; the toppings were quite good but maybe the pizza isn't their most famous dish. But all in all, it was a nice Japanese style Italian place, and would definitely recommend the pastas there, and I absolutely appreciate the fact that you can customize it to your personal tastes which not many places offer that flexibility. The service good, however when planning on dining there in a group, efforts should be taken to arrive there early as it's a small place and you'd have to wait your turn since they don't accept...
Read moreAmazing that a restaurant refuses to accept a credit card nowadays, but Japan has always been a bit backward about that and Tomamu is in a very backward part of Japan, despite the pretensions to being a "resort."
Acceptable service, just a bit better than mediocre food. Also amazing that an "Italian" restaurant thinks it can get away with using ketchup for tomato sauce and snack wieners instead of salami on its pizza...
Not surprising in the slightest that the place was empty all during lunch...
Read moreThere are reasons why some restaurants don't have lines. Even when they're empty, the service can be very slow. This is especially frustrating when we come back from swimming with our child and are very hungry, hoping to get the child fed and rested quickly. Despite entering the restaurant before others who arrived after us, we still hadn't received all our dishes even after two reminders, while those who came later had already...
