A very cosy live venue, and by cozy I mean it's very intimate. I saw a visual-kei event here and for the content of the show it was great for the fans. You're almost onstage with the performers! Very friendly staff and judging by the performer posters I'd say they'd do a few of these type of events. If you're into that kind of thing, and trust me it's worth checking out, this venue would make a great introduction.
Update 2024 version: I came down to watch some rocking bands. First up was A.T which was a drummer (bar owner) keyboard, and guitarist. Keys did bass, very nice rocking outfit dropping Hendrix and Clapton with animated guitar burning.
Next up was Blue Sen? (My Japanese is feeble) They were a keys doing bass and drums with a psychedelic guitar filling in the gaps for a transcendent experience.
Next up was Miyu (aka - Roundface) bringing the acoustic guitar set with catchy toe tappy tunes presenting a larger picture that is - Rock'n'Roll Witches. The bigger story is I wanted her high lace Doc Martins, those things are hard to find.
Coming in hard was Reborns, a younger compliment of players with the heart to match their music. Their set was catchy and energetic, something they're working on and should resonate with the right crowd.
Finishing up the night was Baked Potatoes. A blues slash rock slash psychedelic combo where the energy of the singer was keeping up with the drummer. That drummer was fit. The guitar though was the highlight, great tone from the marshall driven head gave this combo the sound which defined the genre, be it through wah or deft use of the pickups, this was a sonic which pleased the senses.
All up, stop going to the tourist traps in Japan. Check out the local music scene. These people throw their life into this business and you going to see some cherry blossoms (pretty as they are) instead of supporting local business is missing out on the inside Japan.
I'll return to this place in time, for the music, and the lemon sours....
Read moreA bit hard to find the entrance. Small livehouse, square-ish shaped, visibility difficult if crowded, but it's fine when it isn't. Nice bar area separated from stage area. Edit: almost no COVID measures in place. No spacing on the floor, sells at a capacity where you're touching shoulders with each other (they say it's reduced, but Japanese regular livehouse capacity is "standing on top of each...
