Made a reservation for dinner and decided to have the ten course menu which includes cream potage, an appetizer platter, chawanmushi topped with foie gras, three types of fresh sashimi, their patented whole wheat udon served with blue cheese soup, tempura, variety of vegetables, grilled Yonezawa beef, pickled vegetables and fish roe, and a warm udon soup to finish. There was a good variety of dishes with fresh ingredients used, and several dishes are Western inspired, incorporating ingredients such as foie gras, blue cheese and truffle. I first noticed this restaurant after finding out about the whole wheat udon; it was unique with a grainy texture and a strong earthy taste. Not a big fan of blue cheese but the soup, although rich and cheesy, was not that pungent so I was able to enjoy it with the udon. The course was delicious overall; favorite was the chicken tempura which was cooked perfectly moist, sandwiched between two soft slices of potato and topped with salt and truffle. The downside to the dining experience was the pacing of the dishes which took over three hours to finish due to the additional customers they need to cater for the occasion but the owner was very apologetic. At first we thought the restaurant was closed but we were greeted by one of the lovely chefs who seemed so excited to serve us! The udon and the fried lotus root was delicious. It was quiet, but that did not change the fact that the service was top and the food couldn’t have gone down better....

Excellent! The staff took extreme efforts to accommodate my lack of Japanese. They were friendly and the food was adventurous (from my experience) and delicious. I would recommend getting a course menu. And the soba...
