I was nervous and slightly scared, This being Tokyo and all, with histories of persecution of Christianity in Japan, Also being in Japan, and barely understanding the language, I was concerned about not being able to understand anything, But this church made a tourist home away from home, The people warmly greeted people, everything was "home" Quite unfortunate that I don't live in Japan, but america, but if I did, I would go to this church every time it's open for service!!

I came a few times a few years ago and enjoyed the church and tried to check it out again now in Nov 2022. The staff and leadership has changed . We did not feel welcomed, unfortunately. Now it seems they have become pretty strict and legalistic , sadly . Hopefully they will remember God’s heart more than their manmade rules . I really pray for this as we were told by an usher that we aren’t allowed to sing during worship time.

The church is filled with international community Christian belivers. The best place to worship (in English) in and around Tokyo. I went to attend the service for nearly 10 weeks when I was in Japan. A warm welcoming and friendly people. They encourage everyone to participate in all church activities. I love the worship time in the service. Though it is in English, japanese translation will be screened.

A unique church where you can easily speak english, yet they have a passion to grow their local Japanese attendance. The pastors and the people have a real passion to reach and serve their local community. It is a church truly making a difference in Japan, and working with other local churches across Japan as they truly see the church as being outside the walls of the building! Japanese may be

Family of 4 with 15yr and 17yr old loved Tokyo Baptist church. I am Japanese and my wife is Hong-Kongnese and both our children are raised in Vancouver, Canada. So it was perfect for us to attend this church. Maybe, 50% are Japanese and other 50% are all over the world. Entire service is done in English, not other churches in Japan like bilingual(simultaneous translation). Church is welcoming atmosphere and the worship time was great. Paster Takeshi Yozawa personally welcomed us and his teaching was on The Bible and speaks the truth. At the end, we received mug ups as a welcome present. We all...

A truly wonderful Christian community.

It can be isolating at times to be in Japan, where foreigners and especially Christians can easily feel isolated.

TBC has been an excellent church where brethren can be served (and more importantly) serve each other in church volunteering, small group, and discussion groups.

I haven't attended a small group yet, but the discussion groups were excellent. The brother in charge did his very best to communicate in English, but I strongly recommend visitors practice their Japanese as reciprocated...
