If you like being yelled at by chefs and having the police called on you, this is the place for you!
Going here was the absolute worst choice I have ever made in life. I honestly should have read the reviews before going, as my experience doesn't seem to be uncommon, but I heard so many good things about the food that I decided to ignore the red flags and go anyway - bad choice.
We went as a party of 2, and ordered 2 pizzas and were forced to order 2 drinks as well (this is not stated in the menu, however). The pizzas were decent in taste, but nothing compared to Da Michele in Ebisu, and was less than half the size. The total bill came close to 7,000 yen which is insane for the amount and quality of the food.
But this wasn't the problem. When it came to paying, it turns out that their card machine (clearly visible when walking into the store) has broken down and they are only taking cash. I check my wallet and am a few hundred yen short, so ask if I can go home and come back in 30 minutes (I live down the road). I thought this was me being rather considerate, going out of my way for them as it's not my fault that their card reader was broken and we weren't told anything when walking in. This is Nakameguro, where literally every store takes card and if they don't, there are signs everywhere.
Well, no, the chef yelled at us saying "Well, you can't pay then, right?" and we were asked to go to an ATM instead. I complained that I shouldn't have to pay for the transaction fee, so they agreed to cover this but ordered that my girlfriend wait outside by herself in the cold so they could keep her as collateral in case I didn't come back. So much for "customer is king".
As I went to the ATM I overheard the chef saying that they should "call the police on me for when I come back because I'm unable to pay". This literally made no sense since I had every intention of paying and was going to the ATM to get cash for them. I responded saying that this isn't my fault, I'm doing everything I can to pay, and if the card machine doesn't work you have an obligation to say this to customers when they walk in, especially at prices of 7000 JPY+ when you advertise card payments all over the store.
Either way, the chef was completely rude, yelling at us infront of the entire restaurant, threatened to call the police because his card machine was broken, and was physically threatening as he was constantly coming out of the kitchen towards us with hot pizza pans.
Absolutely no reason why this place should be so popular, and I feel sorry for everyone who gets fleeced going here. Take your money elsewhere - Da Michele one stop away in Ebisu is 1000x better...
Read morethis place is overrated and makes you feel stressed. didn’t have a reservation, came as soon as it opened and waited one hour before getting in. even people who had reservations were entering the restaurant later than their reservation time, the front of the restaurant was a jumbled mess with what looked like 3 different lines. workers seemed very very stressed and under pressure.
after finally getting in, workers told us to sit at a certain spot, then moved us, then told us we could put our stuff on top of a seat, then told us we need to remove our stuff from the seat. asked for water but they kept forgetting. after pizzas arrived, mine had this huge burnt mark on it. pizza tasted just like a normal Margherita, nothing special. 2200 yen + you must buy a drink. ended up costing 3200 total. crazy that the whole kitchen is operated by one person. this person was NOT taking his time obviously or putting heart into his work because you just can’t do that with 20,000 orders needing to be taken care of. my friend who was with me told me the person in the kitchen accidentally had the pizza plated upside down, and it got messed up, he flipped it on its normal side than told another worker to send it to the customer. also, he overheard the kitchen worker threaten to fire the waiters since apparently they kept messing up.
Anyway, this restaurant feels insanely understaffed and workers do not seem happy or hospitable at all because of it, you can feel their stress. I don’t recommend it, you can find much tastier Margherita pizza, better service, and a better atmosphere and price almost anywhere else. Message to owner: stop being greedy and...
Read moreDon't go. We ordered a fungi and the anchovy caper pizza and the fungi one came and there wasn't much fungi on it. The anchovy caper pizza didn't have any caper which was the main reason why we ordered it and then when I asked them where is the caper they said oh that's a typo on the menu and it's not actually on the pizza which was super weird. The mozzarella was supposed to be buffalo mozzarella but it definitely was not. Also in Italy and many European countries, if you order Buffalo mozzarella you get a whole ball of it, but there was very little mozzarella and when we tested it there was no difference between the regular mozzarella and the buffalo mozzarella. There was also only three anchovies on it and the crust was a bit mushy and not crispy and when you look at the pizza maker he does not use his fists to make the pizza but he just stretches it by hand and the shape is very wonky and the tomato sauce is not dispersed evenly and the service was really bad. I will not be coming here again. It is way too expensive for what it is. There are basically little to no toppings like two pieces of basil. So yeah don't go if you want good service. Don't go if you want actual toppings. Don't go if you don't want to be...
