The Grand Gables — Local services in Nairobi

This is our “home away from home” in Nairobi!! We are staying here for 4th or 5th time and it is greatest value for money, plus beautiful, homely. The staff is welcoming. The advantage is that you get an apartment for the price of a “room with breakfast” in the other hotels. So you have a big beg room , a living room with a kitchen, you can cook (eating out is so pricy in Nairobi!), invite guests for lunch or dinner, use the garden with the pool where there are also outdoor tables. We’ve been here for short term and for long term stays, for pleasure and for work… we shot a movie in Nairobi and with the crew we stayed at their more high end property called The Kings Post which is as great, plus coffee shop, fitness and a roof terrace for gatherings. Highly recommend these two properties instead of the regular hotels. They are made and maintained by Indian people so the architecture of the colonial India and some elements of the architecture of Zanzibar (especially The Kings Post). Go and see for yourself ....

Great location in a small, quite complex, very safe. Nice layout of 2BR apt, decent size, cute balcony and I liked the interior, though painting would be great.

After I got sick and diagnosed Covid, they asked me to leave the hotel while not refunding money for days that I paid in advance. Poor communication by the manager.

Other issues that require immediate attention: Pool is closed since Covid and they don't state that, there are pool photos that attract you. Cleaners sometimes come at 9 AM, sometimes at 7 PM when you want to chill. Cold apt during winter. DSTV not working at all after many requests, lack of kitchen...

The place was great. Nice and quiet. Close to everything I needed. Only 15 minutes from The airport. The staff and Security Council Jonnes and Constant are EXTREMELY SUPPORTIVE AND FRIENDLY. It was my first time to Nairobi Kenya and all they did was help me with Emmy almost two weeks stay. Phenomenal experience with them. I wish they could be my professional staff because all the tips Jonnes gave me were on point. I would definitely stay here again when I come back.
