Bésame Mucho Bazar — Local services in Baja California Sur

Terrible. We negotiated a price on a ceramic piece of a guy seating with his legs crossed holding three fish in very lively colours that was USD$1,000.00 to $600. We told the sales person what we were prepared to pay, she told us to come back in 20 mins as she had to seek approval. We came back and she was truly excited for us and say, it is yours congratulations. We then shoke hands and went to pay but they couldnt figure how to punch the new price/discount on the computer so they sent us to the main store about a block away from Hotel California in Todos Santos to pay and when we got there they told us that they have basically changed their mind and could no longer honour the $600 price. That if we wanted it was only 15% off take or leave it. Our sales girl was amasing and was terribly embarrased at the attitude of her male and female colleagues that were at the main branch as they were extremely rude. Was such a turn off from our experience in Mexico, which so far had been just perfect. I speak Spanish fluently as it is my mother tongue. I politely explained they had verbally negotiated a price that we had shoke hands and it didn't seem right. They two people at the main branch couldnt care less. They basically told us off and needless to say we lost our piece, which by the way was on consignment by the artist at that store. Was truly shamefull they way they dealt with the whole negotiation. I wouldn't recommend anyone to go there, they are more than over priced in most of their items as we later found out by speaking about the experience later in our hotel with the local staff. They then sent us to another place in San Jose del Cabo were we bought some of other ceramic items we had like for 50% less. It is sad as we had gone to Hotel California about 16 years ago and although tourism has helped the community hugely, the eagerness to rip off the tourist has really taken away the local sharm of Todos Santos. I also note that the store next to Hotel California is not all Besame Mucho. The store is a warehouse with many artisans renting some retail space/ stalls to sell their goods. Most were amazing and Besame Mucho is just one of the people renting some space. The whole store next to the hotel is not Besame Mucho so don’t stop going in it just because my bad experience with Besame Mucho. Just make sure you don’t buy...

My new favorite boutique in Todos Santos! It's room after room of sheer delight! Too much to visually take in the first time. A second walk through is encouraged. Yes, I found some new favorite dresses to add to my wardrobe and can't wait to go back to see what else I can bring home. When in Todos Santos, be sure to make this one...
