Chedraui Selecto — Local services in Mexico City

Abysmal customer service. I bought a hairdryer on sale for 30% off, but once home I noticed I’d been charged full price. I took my receipt to customer service and was asked to move to the side as they waited on other people who came after me. I wasn’t sure if they were planning to help me or just keep ignoring me. Eventually I had my chance to explain the issue, and they gave me a gift card – requiring me to go back into their store and buy something just to get my “discount”. No apologies for the mistake on their part.

My Spanish is nearly non-existent, but in a month in CDMX, I’ve found most people are patient and will at least try to communicate, if only through Google Translate. Not so at Chedraui. They barely even made eye contact. I even asked twice if there was anyone at all in the store who spoke English, and they said no. It was a huge waste of time, except that I now know to skip shopping at Chedraui...

If you're American I would suggest not shopping here. On more than one occasion now I've had workers treat me disrespectfully unwarranted where my boyfriend (who is Mexican) did not get treated this way by the same workers. One cashier intentionally checked out the guy behind me before me (began grabbing his items before mine). When we explained those items were his she continued to check them out. It was so blatantly rude that the man even offered to pay for my things because this type of behavior is truly embarrassing to witness. Worker Natalia Mendoza was my cashier today. She gave me the wrong change (perhaps she stole it)-at least $10 pesos. This was before treating me like a criminal checking inside my bag though the bagger already verified that the items I had were marked by the security guard upon entry. The bagger had to tell her more than once the items were already mine. I got treated horribly and yet she was the one who ripped the customer. Check your money before leaving the cashier. Also, one of my items rang up the wrong price. It's likely the price tag needs changing. So also look at your receipt before...
