I’m so happy I joined the union! I had a big pause with sport and when came to train it was a bit difficult in the beginning, especially when everybody is being very fit, but was very interesting, exciting and lots of great technique and attention from the coach (I do both Box and Muay Thai) . After the first week I was feeling much better and more confident, my body got sporty shape as well. Fighting and martial arts are my favorite sports. This club is the first one I tried in Playa and i’m 100% happy with it. Every day i’m waiting for the evening to go train and release stress and energy I can say it’s my anti stress therapy 😅. Coach Mike is knowledgeable, experienced with a sense of humor and yet very serious and responsible at his work. By the way we have so much real practice, basically every lesson is practicing new technique and combinations in couples, using pads and gloves and punching pretty well. That was the most important to me, to have lots of practice. Also we have lots of fighting sparings during the week. So it’s always fun! For those who as me never did Muay Thai before it’s worth to try! So different to anything I tried before (karate and kickboxing), different basics of the fight, which has lots of its pros and real application in the fight. Also a lot of “flying” technique which is...
Read moreI had been going to the union for 3 months and it is the place in play del carmen that I will miss the most. Mike, Elena, Daniel and Sandra created an almost family atmosphere in the gym. I enjoyed going to every class and began to love martial arts even more. People come here with no experience, as well as technical guys, there is always a partner to practice. In the gym there are gloves and helmets, in case you do not have your own, it is free. Usually there were from 2 to 8 people attending evening boxing classes, a couple of times I worked individually and it was also cool. The trainers are very technical, in 3 months of training I gained more experience than in the previous six months of boxing, I saw part of my abs for the first time, without any diet, everything was a pleasure. Sparrings (they are optional), which I tried for the first time in The Union, played a big role here, so thanks for that not only to my coaches, but also to Daniel and other experienced guys who were forgiving uncareful punches and shared knowledge. Thanks to my studies, I was able to improve my productivity during mentally exhausting computer work, cut weight, and even became calmer. I give this gym ten fresa...
Read moreThis is the best gym I’ve ever trained! The place is huge and the equipments are great and in good condition. Also, there is a ring so every Friday you can do real sparring and learn from other people and practice skills that you learned. The coach, Mike, is a professional fighter from San Francisco and practiced Muy Thai for decades, so you can learn very thoroughly about why you have to move in certain ways and how you do it properly. You learn not only skills but also reasons and philosophy behind it. Also, Elaina and Daniel are great coaches and their body conditioning lessons are so fun and awesome! And they’re gonna make you strong and also sweat like crazy! If you want to learn Muy Thai and boxing properly I highly recommend you come to The Union and join us! On every Saturday at 2 p.m., they teach local kids (some are from on the street) for free and take care of them if they’re not in troubles. You can also come and help them to teach kids Muy thai and interact with local people and learn about the community and just be a good person do good things...
