We booked this on the recommendation of a friend and we weren't disappointed. We had rooms 5 & 7 and they were both comfortable and spacious. The hotel is beautifully laid out with lounges and areas to relax inside and out, sunny and shady spaces through the lovely gardens and around the terrific pool.
Essaouira is famed for its wind, but the pool and garden areas provide quite a bit of shelter. The beach is just across the road, and we really enjoyed the local Beaches & Friends bar/restaurant there (see my separate review). The local blue taxis are also easy to catch on the corner near the hotel, for 7-10 Dirham. NB: they only take 2-3 people per taxi. We typically caught a taxi up to the old town/port as that way is into the wind(!), and walked back. It's about 15 minutes from the gates of the Medina.
Breakfast is huge, meaning we quite often didn't need lunch; fresh OJ, different types of breads with lovely jams and honey, yogurts & fruit salad, optional eggs. It is the same every day, but why should that be such a problem?!
The staff are all super helpful, and booked us a taxi back to Marrakesh that was excellent. We didn't eat dinner in the hotel, but based on the snacks (briwates, chips, mint tea etc) that we did eat, I can only assume it will...
Read moreAn amazing warm hearted experience. Right from the moment we walked through the archway, a feeling of calmness came over me. Birds were chirping in the lovely gardens surrounding the hotel conveniently located a short block from the end of the beach walk where one is greeted by camels walking the sand dunes off the waters edge. Inside, my mouth opened wide in amazement of the majestic beauty surrounding me. Tastefully decorated with traditional ceramics and wood carvings. A gem to the senses. All the staff were very attentive. Vassiz even remembered what we enjoyed for breakfast, something I looked forward to each morning. More than enough to keep one going during the day. We were blessed to have been bumped into a larger room for our weeks stay. That was very kind of the female owner who made sure all was good each morning. The room was fabulous, amazingly comfortable beds and quality linen and towns, argan oil shampoos and lotion were provided giving us an impulse to buy and take home. Fantastic for the skin too! I highly recommend Villa Quieta for your quiet, special stay in Essaouira. PS loved the pool and lounge area after a hot day in the...
Read moreThis riad is very nice - the rooms are spacious and the location is quiet, outside the medina by a mile or so but right off the ocean (there is a busy street between the riad and the ocean though) with some restaurants on the beach. There were camels on the beach and wind surfers, which was fun to see. The breakfast was good, made to order. The grounds are very pretty. Our only issue was that our A/C was broken and it was really hot in our room. We kept telling them it was broken and they insisted it was working because the fan was coming on, but the air coming out was hot. We finally were able to tell the owner, who called a repairman who said it needed to be replaced. Of course that could not happen while we were there. They said they would give us a portable A/C - you guessed it, a fan! Our driver complained for us, and they then comped us a night (we were there 4 nights), which was nice. They also made a special dinner for us, which was delicious - they do not serve dinner there usually, so that was a nice gesture. We loved Essaouira and the medina there, and we would...
