Responsible Treks is one of the best travel companies of Nepal. I embarked upon a very unique wildlife photography expedition along with them and they have not only met my requirements to the best of my satisfaction but also took all necessary and added measures to meet unforeseen situations. They helped me in finding and photographing Wild Yak which is considered to be one of the rarest mammals of the region. The expedition took us to the remotest corner of Nepal at Limi Valley in Humla district. Mr Chhewang Lama left no stones unturned in making life comfortable from receiving me at Kathmandu airport till the time I reached Simikot and provided me with all possible assistances at every point which included my stay and excursions at Kathmandu, boarding various flights as well as deplaning.
Finally, at Simikot I met Rinzin Phunjok Lama who is a Wildlife Biologist and is a Rolex awardee. An extremely talented and dedicated conservationist who runs Project Ukali to save the unique biodiversity of the region. He and his team conducted the expedition which included tracking Wild Yaks through extreme terrain and all logistics associated with it. I must make special mention of Phurbu who walked and scanned tirelessly to materialize my dream. Chhang Lama also deserves special mention as he and his ponies kept us alive through those arduous days by preparing the best of the foods and carrying all necessary stuff. Abinash Lama and Kamal Sahi were great assets with their scanning and photography skills. Even at the end of the expedition, when the weather turned bad, the team went out of their way to evacuate from Limi Valley and finally helped me board the first flight which touched Simikot.
I am simply overwhelmed with the professionalism, human touch and added efforts of Responsible Treks without which this expedition could never had been successful. I bet that I will home on to them whenever I visit Nepal for my future...
Read moreAbout 4 months ago, I (female solo traveller) chose Responsible Treks for one little trek in Kathmandu Valley and also for trekking the Annapurna Circuit, a dream of mine that I've had for a long time. They were two very different treks, both exactly adjusted to what I had asked for. And what can I say: I've had an amazing time! Chhewang was there for me from the beginning, meeting with me to discuss the routes and to give me information on the treks but also other tips regarding Boudha. He organized everything in a very professional manner and he and his team took care of everything from permits to where I could get my shoes fixed. With me on the trek was the amazing Chhiring, one of the agency's well-trained guides. He took care of everything on the road and I always felt safe. He was also great company on the trek, thanks sathi, for the wonderful hikes and matches of Ludo! Everyone at responsible treks I interacted with was lovely and very well connected and can help you out with probably everything you might need. In short: I fully recommend responsible treks, you're in good hands here, also if you want to go to more remote places or want an individualized trip for yourself or a bigger group. Safe &...
Read moreWe did a 13-day trek through Dolpa, including both Upper and Lower Dolpo, in September. It was just the two of us with one guide and two porters, which made the experience very personal and flexible. The landscapes were absolutely stunning, and crossing several passes above 5,000 meters was an unforgettable highlight. We hardly met other groups along the way, which made the journey feel even more special.
On the trail, we had the chance to visit temples and experience local culture up close. Accommodation was a mix of tents and tea houses, with meals provided twice a day in tea houses and snacks for lunch.
Our local guide, Phurba, did an excellent job leading us safely through the terrain and sharing his knowledge of the land and culture. We can highly recommend him as a guide.
For anyone considering Dolpa: it is a intense trek with limited exit options, so good preparation is important. If possible, plan for at least 15 days so you have time to both complete the route and also enjoy this truly beautiful and unique area. However it is also possible to complete the trek in 13 days if the weather is...
