After staying in Kopan Monastery for a course, Lumbini Monastery, and Namo Buddha. This place was different. It's the Kids with amazing back stories and personalities. Visited in October 2023
I stayed in a paid private single bed room for. Few days. Clean room, hot shower, comfy bed, toiletries and mineral water.
The kids greet you with warm and friendly energy. They like playing along with you and enjoy interacting.
The staff is nice, humble and helpful. Especially Tsering. Who manages the place and became a friend. Kind over worked guy who loves the kids.
The bond and memories made here are unforgettable. I will be back to volunteer and see the kids again.
The monastery welcomes volunteers who can help contribute towards the betterment of the kids.

Read moreI had the MOST wonderful time at Segyu. I stayed there for three and a half months as a volunteer English teacher. The monks, Abby, teachers, other volunteers, and everyone else I met there were, each in their own way, extraordinary people.
All these new experiences have shaped me personally in many ways. I didn’t expect how much my perspective on life would change.
As a volunteer, you are given a lot of freedom, but also guidance whenever needed. The teachers are very welcoming and helpful. I taught English to every class in the monastery, which I personally enjoyed very much, as it allowed me to get to know all the monks.
The accommodation is basic but clean and comfortable. You can join the monks with their breakfast/lunch/dinner. If you need anything, there is always someone ready to help you.
I could write a whole book on how grateful I am for this experience, it’s a really special place and everyone is welcome.
So anyways, I would definitely recommend to go here, as a guest or volunteer, and I hope to return myself as soon...

There is a guest house on the temple grounds for anyone wanting to stay short or long term. Some volunteering opportunities seem available as well.
