Ludwig's — Local services in Amsterdam

The chicken sandwich is big and tasty, and the place itself is a comfortable and convenient stop. That said, the service isn’t always consistent. There’s one girl with brown hair who often seems a bit grumpy and not very customer-friendly. I asked if my sandwich could be cut in half, but she said she was ‘too busy’—even though she had time to rewrap it after handing it to me in a paper soaked with sauce from her gloves. To be fair, she did replace the paper when I mentioned it, but refused to cut the sandwich, which felt like something she could easily do especially after already making a ‘mistake’ by giving it all oily from her gloves. Their sandwhiches are sublieme. Fresh, soft and crunchy bread. The toppings have amazing flavour worth coming back for as we did. Vandaag ben ik voor het eerst langsgegaan bij Ludwigs op de Beethovenstraat. Het brood zelf was verrassend goed – krokant van buiten maar toch zacht van binnen. Echt een compliment waard.

Helaas werd mijn ervaring volledig overschaduwd door de houding van het personeel, specifiek het blonde meisje achter de toonbank. Toen ik haar een vraag wilde stellen, werd ik op een botte manier afgekapt met een ongeïnteresseerd en haast snauwend “wacht”. Het voelde niet als een druk moment of misverstand – het kwam echt onvriendelijk en onnodig afstandelijk over. Wat me nog meer opviel was dat ze tegenover andere klanten juist vriendelijk en lachend deed, wat het contrast alleen maar ongemakkelijker maakte.

Ik voelde me hierdoor absoluut niet welkom en op m’n gemak. Sterker nog: ik heb m’n broodje niet eens afgemaakt. Jammer, want het eten had potentie, maar klantvriendelijkheid hoort minstens net zo belangrijk te zijn.
