Obrechtkerk — Attraction in Amsterdam

Questa basilica cruciforme in stile neoromanico fu costruita tra il 1908 e il 1911. Fu progettata da Joseph Cuypers e Jan Stuyt . Cuypers aveva già iniziato a costruire la Sint Bavo ad Haarlem nel 1898, che fu completata nel 1930. Il suo stile architettonico indicava chiaramente una transizione dal neogotico a una nuova architettura ecclesiastica. Nella prima fase della costruzione della Sint Bavo, Stuyt fu il supervisore capo durante l'esecuzione. Il progetto della chiesa di Obrecht, realizzato congiuntamente da Cuypers e Stuyt, risale al 1905, secondo la visione storicista seguita da entrambi gli architetti all'epoca. Si tratta di una chiesa costruita in stile neobizantino e neoromanico con una facciata rivolta a est, fiancheggiata da due alte torri e una torre di attraversamento più bassa sul lato ovest. L'edificio fu consacrato nel 1911 da Mons. AJ Callier (Augustinus Callier), vescovo di Haarlem .
