I'm a staff member for ymca mt albert rec and mt albert primary school asc and hp and this week was my first time at Ellerslie rec on Tuesday as it was a educational holiday that day and when I turned up for my 1pm shift the morning shift receptionist made me feel welcome and like it was my second home and and she took her out of her work time to show us each every room and as we were new there work for that day and she took her work time to come over on my work break at 3pm and cane to talk to me and check up on me and everything else and she knew people who have intellectual disabilities which i have and other people who have all other kinds and she understood me and she had no problems with us she didn't rush us at all like the afternoon receptionist took over afternoon and evening shift and she made me unwelcome by the way she was and hehe seemed she didn't really want to work that day just the attitude she gave us and and she seemed she didn't want to lead us and she made my partner feeling unwelcome after I finish my work and we were shifted out alit as there's no asc room and compared to mt albert rec at mt albert rec all the staff are loving and make sure staff and public are okay and mentally and friendly to newbies and public too and made my partner feeling welcome to mt albert rec than Ellerslie rec I would recommend going to mt albert rec for asc and hp more nicer and...
Read moreBirthday party review for 4 year old:
Hall: has bouncy castle, gym equipment (balls, nets, balance beam, trampoline, some mats, and rings) and chairs are lined up along one wall. In summer it is warm inside, not too hot - unless you're running around like the kids!
Bouncy castle: is a really safe design, you can't slide or fall out of it. It's noisy though, so it is heard from the entire hall and kitchen.
Gym equipment: not particularly safe, but if used correctly/with supervision for younger kids it's fine. Trampoline doesn't have nets. There isn't a lot of padding for falls throughout the hall.
Kitchen: opens into the hall halfway. It has most things you would need, but not in the best condition. I recommend table coverings for a party (we didn't bring any), and to bring your own big bowls for chips etc. There are 3 tables in the kitchen. Take care with the hot water, it was much hotter than I expected (I hope they check the temperature).
Instructors: they take the kids through classic games such as red light green light. It didn't really work for us given the age range and that kids wanted to play on the bouncy castle and gym equipment.
Overall: recommend it if your kids are happy to exhaust themselves running and jumping, and if you don't mind joining in a bit. I didn't like how noisy the hall was and how the kitchen wasn't...
Read moreWhat a waste of my time. I called them because they are offering two weeks free. I was just looking for an explanation about the offer on what the cost is and options. They offered me to come over and have a look facilities and so on so on. I didn't want to but they insisted. So firstly they couldn't agree with my first option as they said they were very busy, so they choose day and time. Secondly they called meo the same day of my appointment one hour before saying that they were double booked asking me to push it an hour later, which sadly I accepted. When I arrive to my appointment, receptionist couldn't find any under my name. She did have not a clue. So then she found on her mind that the only person that could possible give me the tour went home because a family emergency. I mean everyone can have this type of situation, but at least I would've expected an apologetic note or a call, but nothing instead. What a waste of time when they could easily provide information over the phone when I requested. Hopefully someone at YMCA can see this comment. Poor...
