Little Creatures on tap did not taste like it usually does, confirmed by my mate.

Poorly designed messy menu, very difficult to tell the dietary labels apart and a nightmare to read. Uninspired vegan options. It's 2024, would be nice to have something other than(frozen) fries and falafels.

Edited to respond to reply:

I saw one pizza that had VGO against it but considering that it had quite a few dairy ingredients I wasn't confident that they would all have suitable replacements and the final product would be good and value for money. This is often a concern for vegans while ordering. Switched on establishments have seperate vegan menus for this reason with the vegan ingredients clearly stated. One doesn't know if there is more information to be had from the wait staff about the vegan options, and one should not have to ask.

The tacos had one vegan option listed as cauli bites. It was impossible to tell if it would just be a fried cauliflower served on tortilla or would there be other ingredients as well. Again this felt like a shot in the dark or a leap of faith.

The wait staff didn't seem to know that the abbreviation for Vegan was VGO, as they advised me that all options marked VO are vegan. They didn't have much more help to offer beyond that.

The only reason I found your menu difficult to read was due to the small font sizes and the layout with dietary labels everywhere. Would be useful if the dietary labels were all aligned on one side as it's easier to find and locate dishes based on that.

Hopefully you can take this onboard as constructive criticism instead of politely insinuating that the reason I couldn't read your menu is due to some disability. I think having a menu with a better design layout would be extremely appropriate for the demographic that you usually cater to in Ellerslie village. If a local craft beer doesn't taste as it's supposed to, and the menu is difficult to navigate I doubt it will leave me motivated to...

Had an excellent meal at Union Post last night – the food was really good. Unfortunately, the service and experience let it down.

We ordered pizza and were offered a second one free as part of the night’s deal. However, it was never mentioned that the second pizza had to be eaten on the premises. When we asked for a doggy bag to take the leftovers home, we were told we couldn’t because of the two-for-one deal. Instead of being able to enjoy it the next day, we were told the pizza would be thrown away – which felt wasteful and customer-unfriendly.

Service was clearly understaffed. I had to go up to the bar to order more drinks, and when our table became cluttered, I moved some empty plates and glasses to another unused table. A staff member acted like THE MATRON then came over and told me not to do this as it was “inconveniencing her,” which didn’t sit well.

Overall, the food itself was great, but the service and rigid policies really affected the experience. A bit more flexibility and customer care would go a long way in encouraging people to return

We did place the pizza in a normal takeaway box and was told by THE MATRON not to do this again. Weird service.

We also didn't receive our 10% discount as we stayed at the La Quinta in Ellerslie and I did mention this to the server when we placed their initial...

I had my 22nd birthday here last night for around 10 people. I arrived and 6:45 for my booking and was told they close at 8:30 which was no problem. I tried to order a cocktail at 7 shortly after arriving and was denied because they put all of their cocktail stuff away even though the did not close until over an hour. This was a bit disappointing as it’s a special occasion and I work in hospitality so I know it’s not that inconvenient especially when your still open. We then ordered our entrees and mains and when our entrees were cleared I ordered another drink. This was then forgot about which is understandable but there was no staff to be seen anywhere for me to let them know and we were the only table in the restaurant. They then dropped off our mains and once they did not come back we realised a prawn pizza we ordered was missing. We were waiting for someone to check on our meals to let them know about the missing pizza but no one was so be seen again and took a while for me to find someone to follow up on my drink I ordered a while ago. The food was very good by the way. Over all the staff seemed like they were over it and couldn’t really care and put it no effort into my 22nd birthday dinner....

The Union Post Brew Bar is a great place for a drink with friends and or to watch the rugby. Seating is couches and a couple of booths with varied tables, chairs and bar stools. Their is a area out the back you can book out, some times for free, or a minimum spend and minimum number of people as well. There is an outside area but if you don't like the smell of cigarettes you won't be able to go out there, shame as its a nice area outside rather than being inside all the time. Off their menu we have mainly tried their pizza's. They are pretty good with a variety of flavors to choose from and you can get small or large. On Mondays nights they have two for one deals.

There were four of us dining here, I had received a personal recommendation to try it. I like the way the bar had kept the decor theme inline with the buildings previous usage. It was nice and warm for a cool winter's evening. We had a nice selection of menu options, I chose the Grilled Peri-Peri Chicken Burger, a couple of the other had the Union Cheese Burger. We did not have to wait to long for our meals, everybody enjoyed their food, a couple even managed to squeeze in dessert as well. Just as a note, you do need place your order for food and drinks at the bar.

We went to the Union Post for a very nice atmosphere and location. Me and my two boys all ordered the Sunday roast chicken, and the chicken was the most driest, I never knew you could make chicken so dry! And it had an awful taste like old overcooked chicken. Lucky for the Chinese takeaway next door as we were still hungry so grabbed a piece of snapper each. It turned into an incredibly expensive dinner! Usually I give 5 stars for this place but they had a shocker in the kitchen last night!
