Updated - on arriving home, the order was WRONG & cold. Avoid here. Busy shop, can take a long time to phone through an order. Don't be tempted to order 'online through the app or website' they charge an extra 11%. Best to just walk in and order, then wait. The woman on the counter is really strict on 'no swapping' items in any of the combos, even if offering to pay the difference. Chip portions are on the small side. Wait time was from 7.03pm order , 7.37pm collect, way longer than it should've been for 1 fish, hotdog, chips & 2 potato fritters.. A Grade ran out in 19 July 2023 -- they still display the old owners certificates from 2020 & 2021. Pretty clean all round. No pay wave. Service was with a smile, no chit-chat with any of the regulars, as she was busy, totally understandable. No magazines or reading material, 5 chairs and a ratty table.

Really nice fish and chips. Below is a picture of a G1 combo. 2 fish, 2 potato fritters and 2 sausages with $5 chips for $20. Fish was lovely and tasted quite fresh. Chips were great and not greasy. Sausages were of a higher standard than you would normally find. Reason for the 4/5 was that the portion of chips were quite small for $5, even in a combo. However, the staff were really friendly and they apologised for the slight wait despite them being busy on a Tuesday night (people standing outside the door busy). All in all would recommend.

I have tried the Sweet and Sour Pork, fish and chips and chow mein. The fish and chips are OK, nothing great. The sweet and sour pork was very sour, but the servings are generous. The chow mein however was disappointing. You hardly get any noodles (and the noodles you do get are thick and hard) and it was mostly vegetables. Service has always been friendly, and love that they give you cardboard boxes instead of plastic bags!

We got the Family Special #1 ( chinese ), tarakihi fish and $5 chips and wontons - Fish batter was crunchy and oily, chips seemed a bit dry, so both not nice. Would not buy that again. The wontons.....not sure what the filling was, very hard and chewy, just weird, would not get that again either. But the Family special was alright, the sweet n sour Pork was good, pork was tender, with crispy coating, the sauce wasn't overly sweet, more vinegary, we liked that. Unfortunately, this place has gone downhill after what appears to be a change of ownership (2nd half of last year). Chips are no longer the same (different potato). They don't have the same flavour and aren't as crisp. Straw that broke the camels back was placing a phone order, turning up slightly later than quoted so to ensure food is ready and then being told it'd be 10 minutes still. I was suspicious so I asked if they had started cooking yet, and they admitted they hadn't. What the hell is the point in ordering in advance if you're not going to make...
