Best kebab you'll try.. no big rotisserie with glued meat..just fry on the pan as you order. . I was a usual at this place, but I got put off by the amount of flies in this place. Everytime I've been there I've seen at least a fly in the salads area.. even in winter. Today was the last straw. .the guy at the counter had to swat a fly off his face when taking the order. .while he was making my salad there were flies. I even said "i don't want to be rude but there's flies all over the salad"..he wafted something.. probably just trying to look like he cared..there was still a fly over the lettuce..and against the glass.. it's just disgusting how they are constantly surrounded by flies in the kitchen and think it's okay. I moved into Ellerslie recently and visited Ellerslie Meats for the first time yesterday. I think it’s great to have a local butcher within walking distance. Supermarket meat is fine but even with my modest culinary skills I think that being able to get personalised service and fresh product is a welcome feature of the neighbourhood. I had their lamb shoulder for dinner last night and chicken kebabs for dinner tonight. Both 9/10. asked for rib eye steak , young assistant looked at the owner [ I am sure the they both knew that did not have any in stock] then the owner pointed to something that was $46/kg, told the assistant to sell that to me that, paid a fortune for whatever it was [it certainly wasn't ribeye, as no flavour, no fat marbling, tuff as] feel totally ripped off. Why the shop owner could not just say - sorry no ribeye ,but we have this instead I don't know. I will not shop at Ellerslie Meats again.
