Golden Dragon BBQ & Dumplings — Restaurant in Ōrākei

We think the management owner of this restaurant has changed. All of the faces are different. We ordered on the phone and they can no longer understand us, it takes 3 times as long to make an order.

We arrived at the restaurant and there was an old man argueing with them over his order due to errors. The staff were confused and couldn’t communicate. Before the old owners were so nice and very organised. Very sad to see, this used to be our favourite restaurant.

We took home our food and the photo below shows the beans, the beans a few weeks ago wasn’t 50% red chillies, now it’s inedible for the kids, they loved the beans before.

I decided to finally try this place out as its in a very convenient location I pass by often. Unfortunately the food was sub-par in my opinion and lacking any excitement. Its corner-dairy quality chinese food rather than resturant quality etc. The decor is also very dated and very uninviting and the service is not much better either and you only get to see this if the door is open otherwise you're left standing awkwardly on the street wondering whether they are open at all and whether you should go in as they tend to leave their door shut at times. One of the best sweet and sour pork dishes ever! I always come here for their sweet and sour pork, and tonight I got their chicken chow mein and vegetables fried rice.

Ordered pick up through Uber Eats and it was ready in 30-40 minutes. All dishes were fresh and hot, great portions of the vegetables in the fried rice and delicious chicken in the chow mein.

Definitely recommend, however minimal parking due to being in the centre of the Ellerslie shopping centre. You'd be lucky to even park just outside the store, you might need to park somewhere and walk to the store if...
