My husband and I thought we’d try out this takeaway 11 km out of our way but with our local lovely one shut, we gave it a go! The owner assured me he cooked in shortening which was correct. All food was fine except you guessed it… THE CHIPS!! ! Dry dry dry !! They were so well drained and dried off so nobody could accuse them of being greasy! I visited Thornlow Takeaways for the first time today. I went there because of the 4.4 Google rating, Firstly the need to update their menu price list its really out of date! I went there because of the reasonable prices. The prices are double that of the posted menu so that was disappointing. I purchased the $28 family special, he fish was nice and fresh and tender, the chips were good too but not a very big serving. I also purchased a Chicken Kebab roll, It was actually delicious. Horrible greasy mess. Please drain your fish and chips properly. On a more serious note, I ordered tirakihi. You supplied one very small piece of tirakihi and another reasonably size white fish of unknown species or origin. I know it was not tirakihi as the small piece was quite delicious in a nice crispy batter, and the larger piece was disgusting and nothing like tirakihi. I would be very careful of this sort of business practice...
