New World Stoke — Local services in Nelson

Very hit and miss with this store and it’s my local New World .

Very outdated exterior and interior. Although the shop is always free from mess or clutter and is very clean. The range of products on offer especially in the bakery department could vastly be improved. Also prices have crept up on virtually everything at this shop to at some points ridiculous levels (such as Pam’s frozen mashed potatoes 1kg which had a $2 + dollar hike literally overnight!)

If it’s not on sale it’s unaffordable for most folk. Also end of the day “reduced to clear” discounts are abysmal, literally a few cents off. If I were the store manager I would halve the price of these to clear them out (reducing stock shrinkage and wastage)

I’m hearing through the grapevine that this store might be in for a massive renovation or rebuild. I hope this is true! Stoke is getting busier by the day and the people need a decent, affordable supermarket that cares about the locals!

Finally ALWAYS check your receipts especially on sale items. I’ve caught NW out several times attempting to charge me full price for something I thought was on sale. On two occasions so far. Pam’s 20 ibuprofen and Magnum 4 pack ice creams.

Friendly knowledge staff, always efficient and easy to approach. Fresh produce section well set out with great variety of healthy quality fruit and vegetables. Meat section has good size packaging from family packs to single servings. Fish and shell fish both fresh and packaged, great at variety of gourmet types of smoked fish plstters, marina's, seafood salads, etc. Delli section hold ready to eat quiche, stuffed potatoes, salads, cold cuts, etc. Bakery has breads, gluten free, fresh cream goods, etc. The single serve cheese cake is to die for. You can buy a great lunch each day as well as pre made meals to take home and heat. Q well designed layout makes doing large grocery shopping easy and there club card offers great savings. Alcahol sales contain well priced beer and wines, if feelings ng like a luxury bottle of wine you will find it here. Great selection of personal grooming products and everything a baby reqires can be found. easy self service checkouts available as are the smiley check out staff manning their cashier's. The meat section is the best of any New World I've regularly been to. Overall, this supermarket is very well stocked with as broad a selection as you'll get. Some others tend to 'run out' of items regularly, which is an annoyance if it's something you enjoy. As a senior store person myself, I know about reorder levels & so do the Stoke New World management.
