As Stoke locals we had surprisingly not been here for breakfast before. While a lovely spot for a cold ale in the sun, we had not tried the food, so off we go! Turning up at 9am, there was a perfect spot out the front in the sun for us to enjoy our breakfasts. I ordered the Squires Big Breakfast: hash browns, mushrooms, tomato, bacon, sausages and 2 eggs on ciabata toast. This was a decent size and cooked nicely. The bacon was tasty and crispy and the poached eggs were cooked well. My wife ordered the Eggs Benedict with Bacon. The hollandaise was very good, and again the eggs were cooked well, nice and runny. Usually I am pleased with the service here but recently I had a very poor experience. My grandparents are deaf and were struggling to communicate with the staff member since she was wearing a mask so I took mine off briefly so they could lip read and she was very rude and impatient and told us to go sit down and discuss. I actually cried because I couldn't believe the way we were being spoken to. I didn't want to be there. I know these are stressful times but there is absolutely no excuse to be rude towards elderly and especially the hard of hearing! Really accommodating for KETO Wedding anniversary today so tonight Dined at Squires and it was a fantastic experience, lovely atmosphere, staff were very friendly and cheerful and nothing was a problem. I am KETO so asked about a alteration to the menu and there was no drama, they sent the chef out to talk to me and she suggested Cauliflower Puree instead of fries. She went out of her way to create it as it wasn't a normal thing on the menu and it was delicious.
