CJ Asian Supermarket Dunedin — Local services in South Island

TLDR: Great shop but always check the price before leaving the store.

Love CJ. Probably the biggest Asian supermarket in town. Inside is quite spacious so it's easy to move around and find stuffs. Handy location with 30 minute parking at the back of the shop. They have specials every now and then. The only problem is, they often did not update the special price on the system. So you may be charged the old (and higher) price. This has happened to me 3 times. And I happened to notice while at the cashier so no problem (the price was corrected). But remember to always pay attention to the price charged vs the price...

Have been a frequent shopper at the store and have never experienced anything weird but my wife just had a very weird and rude interaction with one of the male staff today. One of the male staff questioned why my wife was looking at her phone while she was browsing in the store and said 'i saw you writing something'. Great variety. A lot of Korean, Vietnamese, Chinese and Japanese convenience food plus sauces and condiments. Good selection of frozen foods. Some fresh vegetables and small selection of basic Asian kitchen tools available. There is a little space with hot water and microwave available and bench and a few stools to heat your instant noodles/meals. A few items like warm Baozi can also be purchased.
