Ordered Lamb Biryani from UberEATS. They forgot the gravy so I can't say anything about that. The raita itself is fine - I like that it's the textbook definition of raita which is both sweet and salty (unlike some places like Divya Palace which has 100% sweet raita and Ferry Indians which has 100% salty raita). The biryani itself has a nice flavor, though I ordered medium-hot and it's too hot for my liking. I usually order medium from other shops and it's too mild so I thought I'd try medium-hot here. Not sure if they made a mistake here but it is what it is. The rice was a little soggy and may have been slightly overcooked, though that's barely noticeable for the average customer. The thing that really made me drop from 4* to 3* is the lack of lamb. I expected my lamb biryani to have a lot more meat. So far, after sampling so many Indian places in Dunedin - not all of which I've written reviews for, this place gave the least meat. Overall, 3* because both the raita and the biryani taste decently good...

Got served different items at a different time, which are supposed to be eaten together; nun was burnt on the edges; there was an unlabelled disinfectant spray bottle inside the cupboard where water bottles are usually available; got charged for a chilli sauce that we always got it for free (and it's not even on the menu with a price written on it), and when i asked about it on the table, the person confidently said they have always charged money for that!
My First time experience 9 months ago: Fantastically tasty food and great ambience! The place serves Indian and Nepalese foods and you will never be disappointed with the quantity and quantity of the food there. I have gone there today and will definitely go there again and again. It's a very small place and the duration it's open is also short but...
Read moreTo give you a back story, my husband and I stayed for years in Dubai so we are exposed to the richness of south asian cuisines, particularly Indian food, and oh so we love SPICY (but maybe not the ‘spicy’ most Indian people say)
Our must have in Mela Eatery - George St branch are the following: Butter Prawn & Rogan Josh Lamb
-The meat chunks are 5 pcs more or less (hope they’ll add more tho)
-Lunch Combo for 1 pax : rice, meat and naan, soft drinks = 24+/-
-We tried these too: Madras Lamb & Korma Lamb
NOTE: Never miss ordering cheese garlic naan at George St branch, it’s the best here in Dunedin I’d say
Butter prawn and cheese garlic naan are not part of the combo meals but you can just pay a lil extra to have it It’s a small eatery, but feels at home. You pay as you order, then get a...
