Cusco Native is the absolute best tour agency, I can't recommend them highly enough. My husband and I toured privately with our guide, Renato, for several days in/around Cusco. We hit all the major ruins but our favorite experiences were at lesser-known locations. I think that's what makes Cusco Native unique. Anyone can take you to a historical site and recite history to you, it takes a special person to show you the real history of Perú with love and passion.
I'll share two highlights: On our first day with Renato, we got to see Palcoyo, the "lesser-known" rainbow mountain. The mountain was, of course, beautiful. But what we really loved was the drive up to it and the view of the huge mountain range in the distance. Also, herds of alpaca and llamas everywhere don't hurt either. ;) As mountain people ourselves we loved seeing how people lived at such crazy altitude. Truly, it was a once in a lifetime experience.
Our other favorite time was visiting a chicheria, learning about small-town life and getting a taste of the local brew. It was so clear how much our guide, Renato, loved his hometown and his community, it made an impression on us. We had so much fun learning about local culture and even got to (badly) play a super fun coin toss game. It's silly how those little things make such a difference but they really set Cusco Native apart from generic tours.
Thank you again Cusco Native and Renato! We...
Read moreAbsolutely amazing experience with Cusco Native! Over the course of several months leading up to our trip Michael answered all of our questions and helped us put together the perfect customized itinerary for our family. During our 3-week trip, we really got a feel for the country, the culture, and several of the many amazing attractions, including Cusco, Waqrapukara, the Sacred Valley, Maras & Moray, the Inca Trail (4-day trek) and Machu Picchu, Ausangate and the Rainbow Mountains (3-day trek), Ruta del Sol, Lake Titicaca, Colca Canyon and Arequipa.
We wanted an active agenda (lots of hiking/trekking), and didn't want to feel like we were amongst a horde of tourists. Cusco Native delivered. Even in tourist-heavy areas (e.g. Inca Trail) our guides found ways to avoid the crowds and make our experience feel intimate and personal.
Co-owner Renato was our guardian angel, frequently checking in and introducing each new portion of the trip. Our guides (Nilton, Ordon, Felix, Maria) were outstanding - knowledgeable, interesting, friendly and fun. The rest of the team - drivers (many... especially Wilder), chef (Pedro... incredible) and sherpas were all amazing - helping make the trip smooth, comfortable and delicious!
The trip exceeded all of our expectations. I highly recommend Cusco...
Read moreCusco Native has been an absolutely incredible company to work with. They created a completely custom and life changing trip for me and a friend. We wanted to come down and experience the ancient civilizations in Cusco, Machu Picchu, Lake Titicaca, and the Amazon as well as the contemporary indigenous communities. The team worked non-stop to create an incredible experience and when some health issues came up during the trip and we had to make some major adjustments to the itinerary the team did not hesitate to ensure we were well taken care of and adjusted much of our trip. The level of attention and detail they provide is incredible. Michael is a master planner and will be with you every step of the way on email and WhatsApp. The owner Renato over sees all activities and ensures that he has his eyes on the quality and execution of the trip leading to an incredible customer experience. RumÃ, our guide for Cusco, the sacred valley, and Machu Picchu is extremely knowledgeable about ancient and contemporary cultures and civilizations, spirituality, and the path less taken. There were so many times where we felt that Rumà was not only our guide to Peru but also a friend, mentor, and teacher about what it means to life a beautiful life full of abundance and love. I 10/10 recommend...
