I received harassment from the security guard. Whether it was by accident or intent I wasn't sure and was afraid of calling out the guard.
But when I got home I was still fuming about it and felt affected.
This is my second time going to the mall and I enjoyed it last week so I went back.
This second time I was wearing a body hugging long length knitted dress and opened my bag for inspection. However, I was so shocked when my back was already turned against the guard the guard hit my bottom with that x-ray rod thing they carry.
I felt violated even though it was a light touch. I thought it might have been by accident but I asked my companions and they said they didn't get hit by that rod or examined by the guard. They were wearing looser clothes and with pockets.
I didn't receive this treatment the week before. So the only thing I could think of for the different treatment this time is whether if it was by accident or if it's because I was wearing a tighter fitting dress without pockets.
There was absolutely nothing that could have been hidden which made it feel weirdly discriminatory that my companions didn't get examined. It also felt weird and gross that the guard hit me right on the butt. Hindi na lang sa hips? Or even much better, don't hit someone ever. Even if it's just light touch.
Now, that dress is tainted by this feeling. And my companion told me not to wear that dress anymore while saying she also thinks that hit was by intent.
The question is whether if this was by intent or accident. But after a day of thinking this thought I realized years of going into the malls never got me hit on the ass. And that the result was still the same. I still felt harassed.
When I try to put myself into the guard's shoes I thought that I would certainly put some distance between the rod and the person's body so they won't get hit and offended. And if I accidentally hit someone I would say sorry. But I didn't get any apology.
My gut instincts say this was intentional. 60% intent and the part that wants to give the benefit of the doubt says 20%.The rest, undecided.
But when I think about my years of experience going into malls and never getting hit on the butt by other security guards that 20% is quickly dwindling down to 10%
Whether by intent or accident however, what the guard did was still harassment.
Shame on the guard if you did this intentionally. And if it was by accident then you should be more careful not hitting women on their butts!!! This is not the way to make women feel safe...
Read moreIt’s always a pleasure to be here at J Centre Mall. In fact, it was my brother’s first time here who’s from Manila and he really appreciates the place.
Firstly, the mall is very orderly and you can see that upon entering the mall. Our private vehicle was able to navigate their entrance and parking area easily.
At the entrance, you’ll feel that the security is one of their top priorities. Not lenient but still courteous enough that you don’t being harassed by their security personnel.
The most popular booths, shops are located accessibly. At the ground floor you will find restaurants.
The supermarket is also very accessible and the good are always fresh.
What I also like is the fact that the ATMs are situated in one area.
There are also rest rooms situated accessibly.
The prices here are reasonable that’s probably because their rents are low.
My favorite place is the Venetian Food Haven. The place is very elegant and that Venetian theme is very enticing and enjoyable.
For those who are differently abled, you’ll find that J Centre Mall has you on their minds. The elevators are very accessible.
The sales people here no matter which shop you are accommodating and friendly.
Congratulations to the management of J Mall, keep up...
