Sterna es una nueva actividad de turismo náutico y naturaleza, dirigida por Sandra Oliveira y clasificada como nº 1 de actividades al aire libre en Aveiro en Trip Advisor. Nos unimos al programa Marshes Experience en el estuario de Aveiro con su belleza natural y biodiversidad únicas en su embarcación silenciosa e impulsada por energía solar con un total de 10 personas a bordo. Sandra es la guía y Estevão es el patrón. Sandra nos relató una descripción muy interesante y detallada de las marismas, las aves, las minas de sal y su historia. Nos obsequiaron con “ovos moles” y “raivas” junto con una selección de bebidas. Los anfitriones crearon un excelente ambiente amistoso y estaban muy bien preparados e incluso tenían mantas en caso de que sintiéramos frío. Los pocos residentes que viven en las marismas salieron a recibirnos y parecían muy felices de vernos. La embarcación está en excelentes condiciones y muy limpia y cómoda. Pudimos relajarnos y vivir el momento escuchando el sonido del agua mientras nos deslizamos por los canales, adormeciéndonos, respirando el aire puro y fresco y la suave brisa en nuestros rostros y sintiendo como una pequeña mancha en este vasto espacio abierto, observando los pájaros y el precioso paisaje natural. ¡¡Muchas gracias por la maravillosa experiencia Sandra y Estevão !!

We had a lovely time with Sterna! The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. The tone on the watercress so peaceful and it was fun learning more about Aveiro. Definitely planning to do it again when friends visit.

Wir kamen im Rahmen einer Wanderreise in den Genuss dieser Fahrt. Es war ein wunderbares Erlebnis, mit dem solar geladenen Elektroboot in tiefer Entspannung in die Lagunenwelt einzutauchen. Ich wundere mich gerade beim Schreiben, wie sehr der Eindruck der Ruhe haften geblieben ist, trotz der vielen Erklärungen, welche Sandra and Silvio an den passenden Stellen gaben. So erfuhren wir sehend, hörend und sogar essend viel über die Natur und die Geschichte des stetigen Auf- und Abs dieser Salz-Welt. Ich hätte Tage auf dem Boot zubringen mögen, doch die ausgiebige Rundfahrt hatte nach gut zwei Stunden ihr Ende gefunden.

We went on a 2 hour trip around the river estuary - my husband and I and our grown-up son. The boat was very comfortable and the skipper navigated us smoothly along waterways that would have been impossible to discover without the team. We loved the scenery and were especially excited to spot spoonbills and a flamingo for the first time, even though we hadn't taken a specific birdwatching tour. Our guide explained many things to us about the local people, the geography, the history, the gastronomy :) It was a perfect way to see a very different side to inland Aveiro. We also appreciated the tips on where we could see more flamingos by ourselves and we spent that afternoon watching dozens of these amazing birds. Thank you for everything, Sterna team, you are great...

My husband and I went on our honeymoon in April (sorry for the late review) and we had an amazing time on the sterna boat! They made our experience so unforgettable with champagne, snacks, and very good conversation. They were knowledgeable about the birds and the surrounding landscape and we felt so happy that we made the decision to take this experience. I would highly recommend taking this trip - it is definitely worth going a bit off the beaten path to get a truly unique memory. I still tell people it was one of the highlights of our entire trip. Thank you so much, sterna team. If we are back in Portugal, we will be seeing you again! PS we found some piri piri hot sauce and are now...

We scrambled to make an afternoon tour, and were so happy we did so. Sandra and Silvio were informative, interesting and engaging guides, sharing their knowledge of the history of the Ria and the salt industry as well as their appreciation for an knowledge of the wildlife that is returning to this area as human activity declines. A very smooth and comfortable ride, despite a strong-running tide and quite a lot of wind. A great way to learn more about this area -- we hope to come back for some birdwatching...
