So this was a quiet Wednesday afternoon in the marina area of portimao... We had just done our 2 hour boat ride upto benagil seeing algar seco and some other places along the way... We had departed for that journey at around 12.30 PM and at the time most of the places here close to the marina were closed. When we got back many of the places were still closed with this one being one of the few open so we sat down here despite concerns about the Google reviews.
The service was the best thing about the place with friendly waiters whose smiles and effort made up for the slight language barrier. We got a peri peri chicken with some pan and it was ok. Not bad, not great either. The waiters offered us more peri peri sauce on the house when we mentioned that the chicken they gave didn't have enough kick by our standards. Now, we have had peri peri in many places including in India and I know that peri peri can mean different things in portugal and south africa for instance but this was a very mild peri peri compared to what we thought peri peri ought to be. Vinegar and olive oil were also present on each table.

Read moreI can see how some of the reviews have the owner down as being abrupt, but to us it was part of the charm/experience of the place, The service was top class and food was perfect, we were a party of 11 celebrating someone’s 50th, we booked the place last minute and he said we could bring a cake in ( we could only find a basic cake and he (or chef )jazzed it up for us ) He suggested to our party we had steak or fish of the day, and when we said about starters he said he’d sort it and came lots of bits of bread , chorizo, olives cheese and much much more I had the fish which was filleted at the table, beautiful and fresh, my lad had a great big steak, said it was the best food he’d had in Portugal, so for 11 of us with wine and, beers 2 courses , port, the bill came to 330 euros, we had a great night. Will be back before we return to England for more great food great service and a touch of...
Read moreMy wife and I stopped by for dinner on our last night in Portimao. Should have realized that other places were full and this place only had 1 other couple dining. Once seated the server dropped a bread bowl and a bowl of carrots. I made the mistake of asking him how much...which I did in all restaurants. He immediately went into a tirade about this is Portugal and this is what we do. He got abrasive and very rude and started yelling "how much" to the others couple and then other server. We got up and left. Portimao has many wonderful places to dine. Everywhere we are the servers bent over backwards to make your dining experience special. Do yourself a favour and avoid this place. Enjoy a meal where they appreciate...
