Marisqueira Casa Velha — Restaurant in Silves

I hate having to complain about restaurants. I thought because there were so many Portuguese guests that this place would be good. I asked if the crabs come out of the crab tank are cooked freshly for the guests?they said yes of course they do, what was I thinking? So I sat down facing the crab tank ordered a crab which has no accompaniments. So I ordered a salad which you have to dress yourself and boiled potatoes which sadly have no salt they're not boiled in salted water they're just plain no butter no oil no taste. They bring you bread anyways even though I said please no bread and then they charge you for it. So the crab comes. As a Michelin star chef and holding a star now for almost 8 years, I can't believe what people get away with. There's no way this crab was fresh, nobody came to the tank to pull a fresh crab, the crab was lukewarm inside and dry, that means it was pre-cooked and reheated again not in in salted broth or water. This crab had no flavour, that beautiful succulent tasty sweetness of a fresh rock crab is even better than to lobster for me. But this crab was dry had a dull flavour absolutely nothing beautiful about it, and when I asked the waiter if it had just been re-cooked and not a fresh crab he explained to me that he goes with his boss to pick the fresh crabs from some port every day. I am frustrated and I want to go so I take it as a take out and I'm charged for the boxes. That's what you call a tourist trap, only if they knew I live here and will not return again. We passed the restaurant and my friend asked them if they have sardines. The staff told us they have it , when we sat down and another waiter told us we don’t have sardine.

Anyway we’re hungry and he chosen another dish .

However it was took morn than 40 minutes to deliver just two dishes !!

The food wasn’t that tasty either ( imagine if you are hungry and waited 40 minutes)

When we received the bill and found out they put olives, bread, butter etc on the bill ( as the starter plate but we didn’t touch anything ,the waiter knew about it and took it away ) however it’s appear on the bill abound €10 extra .

When we asked them to deduct the amount and was informed that the internet not working , so you can’t pay by card !! I mean come on , if you don’t accept card just put the information on the wall then all the customers will know about it . I saw so many customers were shocked when they heard can’t accept the card .

So that’s all my experience about the restaurant, I won’t recommend...

We arrived as a party of four and we asked if they had swordfish on the menu, the owner said they did have fresh swordfish. Assured that we would have the food we wanted we were shown to a table and ordered a bottle of wine. Once we were served with the wine we were told that they didn't have swordfish, we were disappointed but didn't want to spoil the whole evening so we ordered the veal dish. The waiter returned to inform us that the veal was not available, we felt like walking out but as the wine had been poured we all ordered a different dish. The food they served up consisted of steak and fish and was very mediocre, all four of us were fed up with how we had been lied to and treated very poorly.
