Ironically, I felt safer when I was away from my vehicle and could blend into the crowd. However, being a lone female driving a car that is reportedly a target for hijackers made me acutely aware of the area's safety concerns.

While the Durban Metro Police has made efforts to increase visible policing, it seems that this particular area has been overlooked.

I was there on my way to my father's, there experience was as enjoyable as tasting ice cream after you have longed for it for over 3 years as a pregnant woman. I could finally breathe and just be.
