Rating: I gave them 5/5. Aa a man who likes to get his taste buds tickled, I have had the pleasure of dining at a number of restaurants locally and beyond, and I can make good comparison. From the moment I walked through the door, I could feel that this is high end steak restaurant. Ambience: The ambience was relaxed and cozy. There are outside tables on the well known 4th Avenue, yet when you enter the restaurant you forget you're in a big city. Warm in winter and cool in summer, caters for intimate dinner or even with friends..

Service: The service here is truly exemplary. From the reception moment and greeting at the door to the excellent waiter. He was professional and efficient. The drinks were prepared and served quickly, yet with great quality. He brought various uncooked cuts to the table. If you're a meat lover, this is very exciting, he was knowledgeable of the menu. who guided me through the menu, Culinary Delights: The gastronomy here is at new heights with their tasty and well presented dishes. A masterpiece, showcasing the chef's creativity and attention to detail. I can confidently say this qualifies to be in the Michelin stars.

Attention to Detail: There was meticulous attention to detail. From the perfectly arranged plates to the artistic presentation, every element is carefully considered. See the picture for an example, and guess what meal is it.

Overall Experience: The combination of wonderful service, warm ambience, and exceptional dishes creates a fantastic dining experience.

This steakhouse adds to a variety of restaurants in Parkhurston 4th Avenue (Kolonaki and Modena), this restaurant is the brainchild of the same owner (@vassilios_86) of the 2 above mentioned establishments.

The Blockman differentiates itself in that it the serves great cuts beef in a modern aesthetic, it is quite refreshing from the regular feel of the more established steak houses in Johannesburg.

As most of you would have seen there usually is a whole show and tell of the variety of cuts of beef available that is laid out on table. (Personally, I'm still wafting for that, not sure what I've been saying wrong, haha). The mussell starter and cout de boeuf/ribeye on the bone is my personal recommendation, and no basting. Unless you want the memory of childhood moments from Spur. Pro tip. get the steak pre cut in slices to enhance eating experience.

Decor: 4.7*: True to form, the Blockman is another good showing from the owner where the restaurant really establishes itself as high end and differentiated itself from Kolonaki and Modena. I recently dined here, and overall, it was a delightful experience. As a pescatarian, I had the opportunity to try their salmon on a bed of butternut risotto, which was absolutely delicious. The combination of tender salmon and flavorful risotto was a treat for my taste buds.

While I thoroughly enjoyed my meal, I must mention that my friends, who opted for steak and chicken meals, also had an enjoyable dining experience. The restaurant certainly knows how to prepare quality steaks that satisfy meat lovers.

The lovely ambience of the restaurant also stood out. Despite it being a cold evening, the attentive host took care of our comfort by placing heaters around, ensuring we stayed warm throughout the meal. This attention to detail added an extra touch of comfort to our dining experience.

Additionally, the sommelier at The Blockman deserves praise for recommending the perfect red wine to complement our meals. The expert suggestion added depth to our culinary journey, enhancing the overall enjoyment of the evening.
