Since 2006, the Bottega Café in Parkhurst has been one of our favourite restaurants due to its easy-going laid-back ambiance, the quality of its food, the attention to detail and attentiveness of its management and the friendliness and efficiency of its staff. However, in June 2016, as novice whisky enthusiasts, our love for Bottega ticked up a notch after noticing a marked increase in the number of whiskies on offer. We attended our first whisky club tasting of Glenmorangie on 19 July 2016 and by the Jack Daniels tasting on 28 February 2017 we were completely hooked. Bottega has been a trusted guide and companion on our whisky journey ever since. While retaining all the attributes that made us Bottega fans in the first place, Sav and his team have added a new dimension for lovers of fine spirits. Bottega now provides a place to share whisky knowledge, stories and a remarkable and growing selection of great whiskies with fellow whisky lovers from aficionados to fledgling experimenters. I have bought whisky online from Bottega a few times, usually I pick up from the store so that I get to have a look at their great selection and what’s new. This time since it was a larger order I selected the delivery option, which can be a bit of a gamble with whisky. Well, those bottles arrived safe and sound, the packaging was meticulous - actually indestructible (I guess you need that when using most courier companies these days) but honestly there was no possible way that even the most rough handling could have damaged my bottles. I have been a regular customer of Bottega for the past three years and remain highly impressed with the excellent service provided by Franca and Sav. They are able to source and stock a great collection of single malt Whiskies which they sell here in South Africa and this all at fair prices.
