I have been a premium member of Virgin Active for several years, but my relationship with the company ended today due to a completely unacceptable experience at the Bryanston branch.
The front desk staff, Sipho and Kele, demonstrated a lack of customer care. I was simply told that’s it’s not part of what they say are "terms and conditions." The core problem I raised is that the terms they cited regarding a guest pass for someone who has not used any guest passes or been to the facility were not visible on the member app at the time of my sign-up.
This practice is deceptive. When a company fails to disclose crucial terms upfront and then uses them to dismiss a customer's valid concerns, it is not only bad business - it feels like false marketing. Additionally, using phrases from both staff members like you already know the “spirit of Virgin active”, or making it out the customer is abusing a system or trying to “find a loophole” is taking zero accountability and lacks any sort of customer empathy. It’s unfortunate that the staff and Virgin Active at this specific location do not seem to uphold the right values. This experience is disappointing, and on principle I’m happy to not have a membership continued.
I would strongly advise potential members to be cautious and consider how Virgin Active Bryanston handles hidden Tcs and Cs and when dealing with issues raised before joining or utilising any advertised functionality...
Read moreVirgin Active Bryanston - if you want a cray cray workout, be inspired and challenged, you can't go wrong with Nkosi Mdlalose's hectic, exceptionally fast paced, really driven, thumping beats kick class of note. Nkosi challenges the status quo continually, it is not unknown to have a live DJ at times, do classes at night, combine step class and kickboxing (yes!), do fun dress up themes and every end of the month the Saturday class runs from 09h00 to 12h00. Nkosi's classes usually runs frequent and back to back, so it is easy to get a 2hr long workout with him. Advice: go in slow and build it up slowly to avoid injury, this is NOT your average workout. Long term..... expect benefits such as improved coordination, ability to move faster, apprecation for Babes Wodumo's and DJ Kitso's beats, weight loss, a great sense of camraderie and belonging, a better body shape and posture, intense physical fitness and stamina. The sauna, steam room and tranquility pool is much...
Read moreModern gym with a variety of classes and equipment. I am down grading my previous rating. Beware when at this gym cellphones are being stolen out of locked lockers in the changing room. I came back from working out to find my combination lock missing and phone stolen on Monday June 7 2021. The same happened to 2 other women that morning, then on June 8 phones were stolen in both the women's and men's changing rooms. Apparently this has happened in the past I wish the gym would let us know so we can take precaution. Personally if I had known at Virgin Active Bryanston it was common place for lockers to be broken into regardless of the fact you ensure you place a lock on it I would never have left my phone and car keys in the locker. The gym of course won't take responsibility yet it also won't warn us members so the thieves keep...
