Social On Main - Bryanston — Restaurant in Gauteng

We went there on Sunday, 2nd Feb 2020 and sat on the outside area as it was a very hot, beautiful day, we had no other choice but to leave because the music was so loud we couldn’t hear what the waiters were saying, nor could we hear each other. We sat in silence eating and drinking. The DJ didn’t seem phased and it felt like we were in the middle of a club instead of a casual social experience for a Sunday. Normally they have live music which is chilled and not as loud. But for a Sunday to have the DJ or staff play music that is incredibly loud where we cannot hear ourselves think, is just ridiculous. A few patrons complained to waiters and management, fellow patrons started shaking their heads (no one lowered the music) and a few people left because of it, including us, however it was so loud that our friends also left to go to another restaurant and we took our food as a takeaway. Crazy experience as we come to Social on Main in Bryanston quite often and it was a very unpleasant experience.

The first time I went to Social on Main was a Friday night for drinks after work. I may have caught them at a bad time, but I had to re-order 3 separate times. The first cocktail I ordered - The Hummingbird - was lovely. The second order - The Hugo - they did not have the ingredients for (as they were changing the menu) and therefore upon the recommendation of the waitress ordered another. She came back a few minutes later to inform me again they did not have those ingredients either. As such I had to make a third order. This whole process took about 20 - 25 minutes. My colleagues all got their drinks (ordered at the same time) before me, but all at different times. It appeared that there were 3 staff members making cocktails at random and table by table or order by order and as such each table was randomly getting their drinks bit by bit. My friends and I had an awesome time at Social on main .Service was spot on at start. The food was delicious and served hot even though it could have been quicker. My only issue the service with mimosas was slow and seemed very deliberate. It’s bottomless but they slow it down to save The manager at the mimosa bar was so so rude to the staff shouting and rubbishing them infront of customers one girl waiter was left in tears but the manager didn’t stop he was on a war path with everyone it looks for your image if this is how you treat staff we always here how bad waiters are treated I was shocked because social on main has very good staff but that is very bad in the ladies bathroom other customers were also talking about his attitude and him attacking staff it’s really disgusting and makes me not want to spend my hard...
