What a vibe!!! The ambiance, the service, the jazz band - all 5 star. Impeccable service from the door man Tendai to the waitress Annie. Dress code: Kings Kraal is fine dining, so Men No shorts allowed! Prices: Steep. A bottle of still Perroni will cost you R90. Shocking, I know! Cuisine: Traditional African cuisine with Cape and KZN influences. Indigenous herbs like Fynbos and Buchu are incorporated in the menu. If you were raised eating traditional African food and accustomed to the preparation style as well as the flavors, you will be in heaven. However, as someone who was open to the new cultural experience as well as someone who loves delecacies that are offals, I did not enjoy the food. The amagwinya was lovely, not oily. The red wine butter was not special. The mango chili dressing lacked depth that It could have had. The pate was definitely not for our palate. The deep fried ulusu had a strong pungent taste. I'm not sure how the cow intestines were cleaned or prepared, but I'm guessing it was boiled and then battered and deep-fried. The mayo accompaniment was too sweet. Our main was a Grilled Lemon Bream - the fish was exceptionally disappointing. We ordered grilled, and the menu did not mention crusted and deep-fried. The Bream was overpowered by the batter or crusting. The chakalaka with fynbos was inspiring. The coleslaw with mint, amazing. The downside as well was that there were no desserts available. The marula ice cream with cornbread sounded enticing, but we were told they were out of desserts. That was disappointing. Would I go there again? Yes, the live band, service as well as the comedy entertainment and a new cultural experience made the visit worthwhile, but I'll eat beforehand.

This place is BEAUTIFUL ! I love their Mogodu Mondays . The ambience is very peaceful & the vibes are to die-for . The food is great , I ordered Mogodu with Dumpling and it came with trotters as well . There are other optional sides too . And I loved the food , it's very filling and reasonable . Also , Seeing that they serve traditional food , the waiter/waitress comes around with a hand cloth and a bowl of water for you to wash your hands before digging in . ( I loved this , it's very unique ) . The place Is also quite cool when there's a live set of DJ's too . Like the time I went , there was Vinny & Oscar Mbo . Generally : The place is amazing , the food is delicious and the service is great ! It's a 10 out of 10 for me .

We’ve been to the Wednesday night, comedies a few times. The service from the waiters is really attentive to all our needs as soon as we walk in they’re very knowledgeable about the menu and really make you feel special by taking care of you and your bags. The food is slightly on the pricey side, but it is worthy and tasty, especially the meat platters. The mature and vibrant which can be appreciated! Keep up the good work don’t let it go down. We will be back.

Kings Kraal is an okay venue for those seeking an immersive experience with great service and a vibrant vibe. The staff are attentive, and the atmosphere is lively, especially later in the evening with a live band adding to the entertainment.

Cuisine Highlight: This establishment truly shines with its traditional African dishes, offering a menu that celebrates the country's rich culinary heritage. The food is a major drawcard and is highly recommended for anyone wanting a taste of authentic, high-quality traditional meals.

Atmosphere Note (Important): While the vibe is good for a night out, patrons should be aware that the venue is extremely popular for shisha/hubbly smoking and drinking. This creates a bustling, mature party atmosphere but also a significant presence of smoke.

Recommendation for Families: If you are visiting for the traditional food as a family or with children, the heavy shisha smoke and late-night party energy may make the experience less comfortable. You might want to opt for an early seating, or choose another establishment if you are sensitive to smoke or prefer a quieter, family-focused dining experience. (Note: There may be an age restriction so please check with the restaurant).

In Summary: Come here for the delicious traditional food, great service, and live entertainment. Be prepared for a lively, smoky atmosphere that caters more to an adult, nightlife crowd than a typical...

Crossed over into the 2022 New Year here and I was generously helped into my Uber by one of the lady staff as the sun was about to wake up. Need I say more😅. Yeyi bekumnandi lana 🤞🏾Amazing memories. Well let’s put aside the fact that I hadn’t hit the streets in a min. The music and DJs in this spot are absolutely phenomenal. Playing all genres. Every time I wanted to sit down the next jam kept me going back to the dance floor. I am a Certified Groovist so I was thoroughly indulged 🥲 I had an utter vibe of a time. Drinks are pretty affordable. I can’t evaluate the food as I didn’t eat there. The staff and Shisha boys treated me like gold . A very dope and “we are just outchea minding our own business and having a good time” typa crowd and calibre of clientele. Loved the fact that a lot of people were from spots a tad bit outside of the Bryanston, Sandton and surrounding areas. So it was a beautiful atmosphere of cross breeds. One thing I wasn’t a fan of was the fact that it’s not an outdoor spot and there is no outdoor area where one can walk outside to catch some fresh air. Given the amount of people they house , this is definitely something that can be...
