I wish I could rate the store separately from the café but alas that is not an option.
I went to the café to have coffee around lunch time, it was not very busy with many open tables. We were told to take a seat anywhere. After we sat down, waitron after waitron walked pass us without asking if we have been helped. Eventually the manager came to give us menus. We ordered our coffee and even before we could decide if we wanted to have something to eat, our menus were taken away.
We saw other guests come in to have lunch/coffee and most of them were helped adequately. One couple A table away from us, sat down, ordered, had coffee and cake and was leaving before we even got the coffee.
I tried to call someone to assist us and was told someone would come. My wife saw the coffee waiting by the baristas and even went to fetch it but she was told to wait for someone to give it to us. Again waited a while for our coffee to be served and it came slightly warm because it was sitting for so long.
Things went from bad to worse when we tasted the coffee. It was bitter and unpleasant. We flagged down another waitron so we could pay and leave.
Having a woolies rewards card and CC you are supposed to get 15% off your coffee. We only got the 10% even after I explicitly said we paying with the woolies CC for the discount.

Read moreWoolworths has the best fresh produce and meat selection of any of the chain grocery stores in SA. There clothing department also offers a variety of sections and brands for trendy teens to older adults, from babies to professional wear and everything in between. Their underwear section provides excellent quality and choice and the home section often has me browsing for way too long. Their bigger stores are the best for one stop shopping when you need groceries, a new duvet, shoes, and gifts too. The staff are always friendly and helpful and the returns are not a nightmare like at some retailers. It's definitely worth getting a Woolworths card to take advantage of the specials and if you get a My School /environment /or other charity card you get your own savings and a portion of your overall payment goes to the charity of your choice. They are also very transparent about where the food comes from and offer organic meats and eggs unlike most South African retailers. I can't say enough good things about Woolworths and would give them 10 stars if I could. You can tell their staff are well treated and well paid because they are always much more friendly and efficient than the staff at any other stores. They are like the Trader Joe's of South Africa but also have clothing and home...
Read moreI placed an online order on Saturday 20 January to be delivered between 10am - 1pm. This order was for my mother who suffers from altzheimers which means that the delivery needs to be carefully managed by me(I’m in Cape Town my mother in JHB). I realized at 2 pm that the delivery hadn’t been made and I hadn’t been notified, it eventually arrived at 4pm by which time my mother was having a panic attack. To cut a long story short Cresta Woolworths has various excuses and it transpires that the delivery of which 50% were perishables appear to have sat in the van for 8 hours!! I subsequently flew to JHB a few days later and checked the items, the cream cake that had an expiry that was still valid was sour, so I threw all the perishables out. I have been trying to get a refund or some form of compensation for the spoilt food but am being given the runaround. If anyone knows who I can contact at Woolworths that actually believes in customer service I would appreciate the details. You can speak to Xolani who has been absolutely useless or Arthur at Cresta for my contact details. I order every fortnight and for the past 2 months every single order has arrived well after the allocated time. Has anyone else had a...
