After a bad experience me and my wife was invited back by Mandla (Store Manager) to give Spur a second change.
We were welcomed and seated, the manager I dealt with over the phone (Mandla) came to see us to apologise for the past experience and to advise the item on the menu is no longer available, however they have made arrangements for us to order this item once more, secondly he explained the process behind the making of the Daiquiri, not the right way, however this is a per-supplied item, and will be taking up with the vendor.
We ordered the Cheesy Garlic snails and what we received is what I knew for the years of being a Spur customer for, a snail plate with creamy garlic sauce topped with melted cheddar cheese. This dish brought back childhood memories and was divine, I was speechless.
Secondly we order some steaks, just the fines quality as I knew Spur prides them on. Each piece melting away in your month, man this was the perfect meal.
The waiter was great and one thing I approached was that we waited for my to finish chewing before coming to ask question, this is a trade seen less and less in the industry, secondly asking for a refill before my drink is finished, and not waiting for our drinks to be empty.
Mduduzi please keep up the great service and your professionalism. You will be asked for on our next visit.
Mandla, thank you to your team, the great service and outstanding food has turned my experience around and I will see...
Read moreUpdate: Went back after a invite from Future-wasnât available, however Mandla took care of us. Starters of cheesy prawns and chicken wings was very good. The Goodie burger was underdone(even when asked for extremely well done but was eventually rectified-was nice and tasty, if not a bit soggy. Nigel our waiter was superb. Overall, they tried hard but still missed the mark, and could have succeeded in convincing us that it was just a once off with the incident below, but clearly there is some sort of problem with the cooking of proteins. its not like they were busy. The improvement was there so they went up from the two stars initial rating.
Ended up being a disaster-ordered spicy chicken wings starter-was fine, but took a long while-ordered 2 more(one for take away) new set only looked 3/4cooked and werenât the spicy ones-take aways was completely undercooked-how can Spur not have some sort of quality control for takeout orders. Raw chicken is a no no. Waitress was fine, polite and did the best she could. Manger checked in 2 mins after arrival and then disappeared, so...
Read moreOrdered 18:00, was told it would take 45 minutes to deliver. 20:00, after asking the 4th driver to cancel the order if it's cold, he luckily canceled when he got there, Spur was clearly very ready to send out cold food before it even left the restaurant. This is certainly not our first experience with poor food quality with both the Cresta and Ferndale Spurs. I have been going to Spur for decades, but in recent years, their quality has dropped drastically and by far is not worth the price anymore, don't waste your money, go get a pie from your nearest petrol station, it will be more likely to be fresh.
EDIT: Spur did contact us the next day and offered to deliver us the same meal, it was very tasty. I'd just hope there would be a way for either them or the customer to cancel orders if they are so far behind as that would at least allow for us to order elsewhere and still enjoy...
