I have used the Photographer's Guide to both the Kruger and the Kgalagadi, on two occasions for each in the past few years. I cannot recommend them highly enough. These guides are absolute gems--and not just about the best places and times to take superb phtotpgraphs of South Africa's magnificent and precious wildlife. The guides have detailed maps, excellent descriptions of locations, hints about the type of game that might be seen in a given location, even recommendations on which hut to stay in! I first visited the Kruger with my parents in 1953 when I was just a boy and have returned many times. I thought I knew the KNP pretty well, but the guide has much much more information than I could ever have. As to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier National Park, this was entriely new territory for me, and since my visits are from literally the other side of the world (Hawaii), I really did not want to waste our precious time by driving around aimlessly! Mario's guide was exactly what I needed and I was able to lord it over my Johannesburg friends by expropriating all his wonderful knowledge.
