My mom and I have always loved this place however on the last 2 visits my mom was treated so disgustingly that we will never be coming back. A couple weeks ago we went as my mom had collected a number of points on the loyalty card and she was excited to spend them on buying new plants for her garden. At the time she was told she couldn't spend the points. When she asked why they gave reasons like "she was spending too much money, she could only redeem points on a purchase of less than R200" "she couldn't use the points as it was the end of the month" "their system was down" etc. etc. They then told her that on her next visit she should go to the front to redeem her points first. Today we went back and she was very excited to go back as she loves it there and was sure that the previous bad experience was just a one time thing. She immediately went to the front as previously instructed and redeemed her points on her card. Despite the fact that she spent quite some time figuring out how to do this, no one even bothered to assist her or ask her if she needed assistance. We then spent several hours in the store, getting a variety of plants. When we finally went to the till to pay, she was accused of stealing a loyalty card and was treated as a liar and thief even when she tried to explain what had happened. The staff there did not bother to listen, or even check the cameras or look properly at the receipts and card to check for themselves. They just accused my mom and were so nasty that she left the store in tears. This experience has been so awful that what was once a place that made us excited and happy to go to... has now become tainted with awful feelings of anxiety and...
Read moreAt the start of the spring season we purchased vegetable seedlings, 2 hanging baskets filled with pansies, seedling trays with pansies , an erica plant, a pincushion plant.Another hanging basket with small pink daisy similar to a felicia. An expensive glazed pot for the pincushion. None of the above have survived two weeks!! I called the nursery two weeks later and spoke to Honey at the information counter who said there was nothing to be done, the heat wave is to blame. The fact that we have been gardening for 40 years and this has never happened to us, made absolutely no difference to her; the fact that seedlings bought at another nursery have survived the heatwave made no difference at all to Honey. The fact that we have a borehole and our plants both old and new are watered very carefully both by hand-held hose and a sprinkler system made no difference to Honey. I also told Honey that we found the baskets flowers roots were not intergrated into the baskets' soil but were in the original tray form on top of the soil! Her reply was "shame" to everything I said and added that once the plants left the premises of Lifestyle nursery the responsibility was the owner's. I decided to write this review having seen that the last hanging pot of what should be a very hardy felicia-type pink daisy are also dead. And it must surely not be correct that Lifestyle takes no notice of customers' serious complaint of the quality of their plants!? At today's prices I don't think this is an acceptable attitude. We are left with our...
Read moreOn 29 December 2021, 11.56.29, I spent R564. 84 buying plants and potting soil. Pos no 17 and cashier 34, K. Makhanane. On drawing up to the till, (I was the only customer) , with my trolley of plants I was totally ignored by the teller who was engaged in a lengthy private conversation with the security guard. I drew her attention to the fact that I was waiting and she told me to bring my trolley round to the side of the till. I did this with some difficulty but it was evident that she was determined to remain seated. I asked her for 2 bags of potting soil as well. A request which she did not verbally acknowledge. When I had paid I asked where I would get my soil. She indicated the high pile of bags behind me and muttered something to the security guard but neither of them moved an inch. I am 70 years old and have a bad back and a hernia but I realized it was up to me to carry the two big bags to the trolley. With difficulty I took the bags and dropped them on the trolley since I could not bend to put them down. During this whole time I was watched by both the teller and security guard. When the delightfully polite car guard came to load them in the car, I found the one bag had broken hence spilling soil. I went bag to the teller and told her I was changing the bag. I also told her what I thought of her...
