This was my favourite Simply Asia because the manager is accommodating and staff are covid conscious. But 4 times, they have served me old food. Twice, I have had tofu that was not fresh, once mushroom, and once broccoli. Yesterday, my order (rice dish) had a soggy half-chunk of pasta in it. I personally feel that there should be no reason why food from another dish ends up mixed into my take away, although the correspondent does not seem to think there is anything wrong with this. Even if it was a shared utensil in the kitchen - what about halaal or allergies or food choices? They have responded to say it is most likely a rice noodle and therefore harmless, so I should not be upset. I am still upset, mostly, now, because they think it's okay. This violation has ended my loyalty. I'll rather order from another branch that has never served me ingredients that weren't the freshest. I hope that when they read this again, they realise the actual implications of some other food appearing in paid-for meals, and consider being more careful. As it stands, they do not believe there is anything wrong on their part. I've spoken to them about using old ingredients in the past, so I am left believing this is not an issue for them. They have made no attempts to ensure it doesn't happen, and have actually been quite harsh in their response over this pasta appearance. Obviously they did not like the harsh way I put this review before the edit, and insinuated I'm in the wrong by posting my experience online. A most unpleasant response indeed. I've obligingly removed my anger from the post, but the details remain the same. They cannot fix what they deny, so be it. It comes down to personal choice - we are...
Read moreHad a not so nice experience last night at simply Asia. Firstly, the food was great as always as we’ve been a few times. The following however took away the good food experience: It was very cold in the restaurant. The gas patio heaters were not working, and unless you are sitting right underneath one of the 3 infrared heaters they don’t help to heat up the restaurant. My wife ordered a prawn and noodle dish and I’ve ordered a sushi platter. We’ve waited quite long for our food, eventually our waiter came and said my wife’s food is ready and getting cold if she can bring it in the meantime. We said yes so she can least have a warm meal. By the time I got my sushi my wife was already done with her meal and I had to rush down my sushi as we were really cold by that time and just wanted to get home. It is not the sushi chef’s fault, it could see him all the time and he was working frantically to make all the orders. The problem is that you have just one sushi chef on a Saturday evening and there were lots of take away orders coming in. And that caused your sit down customer to wait so long which didn’t go down well.
Update:
So I've changed my rating to be a five star. Both the owner and manager made contact with me to apologise and also to mention that their heaters are up and running. Also received a very friendly invite to come and visit again. It's great to get service like this in these times, doesn't happen often. So definitely...
Read moreSimply Asia used to be one of my favorite restaurants but the quality of food has deteriorated of recent years and I’ve not been there in some time. This review was prompted by a visit to the honeycrest branch in randpark ridge today. Not only was the quality of the 514 I ordered awful but I was taken aback by how unfriendly the staff at the branch were. My meal which should have been a bit of veg with prawns and rice noodles was just a gooey portion rice noodles drowning in oil with a scattering of largely chopped onion and pepper that I could basically count on one hand with maybe 4 tiny prawns. The price tag for the meal far exceeded the actual meal and it was so disappointing. Needless to say I won’t be going back there. Simply Asia seems to think that vegetable is worth its price in gold. Basically you’re paying for flavored noodles. And the portion sizes are tiny but let’s not go there…. A rip-off if you ask me and a far cry from the quality of good food you could expect...
