Want to visit a historical market - established in 1888 - where locals go ( nope, not like tourist infested La Boqueria)?

Well, El mercado de la Llibertat de Barcelona is the one for you. Designed by architect Pasqual Tintoret for the neighborhood of Gracia, it's a structure of iron and exposed brick, designed to offer protection to all kinds of food: fruit and vegetables, fish, legumes, jamon and chorizo of course, and more. Inside, we are greeted by open, wide and high spaces, with food stalls arranged next to each other. Pretty much like La Boqueria albeit a much smaller but authentic version.

It's pleasant to be able to look at one's leisure the products which are displayed, without the jostling crowds...

Based on other market prices, this is one of those were the prices are not clear. Many of the products does not have any kind of price typed and in those with prices written there is no sign of the MANDATORY traceability label. The ones shown are also expensive, i.e. 15€/kg burger iberica is ok, but without a traceability label?...you must just trust in the sellers word. For all you who doesn't know, traceability label is always the key to do not...

Very confortable Market. It is one of the economic ones and all the products are very Nice. It is close to "Gal.la Placídia". Very popular Square Next to "Travessera de Gràcia". You Will enter " Gràcia" neibourghood. Full of beautiful Squares like " Plaça del Sol", "Pça. De la Virreina"...Verdi Street is popular Because of their cinemas in O.V. and very interesting...
