Check-in & First Impressions Check-in was smooth and welcoming. Xavier at reception was excellent — friendly, helpful, and efficient. The lobby itself is quirky and trendy, though so dimly lit it felt as if the hotel hadn’t paid the electricity bill. Still, the style gives a bold first impression. Room & Facilities We stayed in a double room on a high floor. The quirky theme continues throughout the property. The room was practical for two people, though the persistent darkness makes it less suitable for a longer stay in my opinion, it feels gloomy. The room was pleasantly cool, with easy-to-use controls, and the large double bed was very comfortable with quality bedding and soft pillows. Facilities included a smart TV, coffee machine, kettle (though only glasses were provided, no cups), complimentary water, and a minibar fridge with a single bottle (unclear if included). Water filling stations on the landings were a thoughtful addition. The bathroom was of a good size, with a decent walk-in shower and wall-mounted toiletries. Overall, the room was clean and well equipped, with useful extras like a clothes steamer and a hidden safe. Breakfast Breakfast was, frankly, appalling — and completely undermined the stay. Although my booking clearly included Full Breakfast, I was surprised to find a menu of chargeable extras, including eggs. Only the cold buffet was included, plus bacon tomatoes and scrambled egg made from liquid egg. Staff confirmed this when I asked. It felt misleading and immediately disappointing. The cold buffet itself was fine: cereals, pastries, breads, meats, cheeses, fruits, and some gluten-free and milk options. But the real issue was hygiene and service, which were nothing short of unacceptable. The dining area was dirty. We were seated at tables with food debris still on the floor from the night before. Plates, cutlery, glasses, and even coffee cups were frequently dirty, some with obvious remnants of previous use still visible. It was not just off-putting — it was disgusting. Equally shocking was the complete lack of service. Staff wandered around aimlessly, seemingly oblivious to the state of the dining room. Tables were never cleared unless guests specifically asked. Empty food items sat unreplenished until requested. At no point did staff appear to notice — or care — about what was clearly visible to us as guests. It left a strong impression that staff had been hired but never trained in even the most basic standards of restaurant service or cleanliness. Overall While check-in and the room itself were positive, the breakfast experience was dreadful — dirty, disorganized, and unacceptable in a hotel of this claimed 4 star standard. The lack of cleanliness, the indifference of staff, and the misleading breakfast policy completely overshadowed any positives. We would not choose to stay at the hotel again.

The location is absolutely excellent. Atocha Station, Museo del Prado, and many other key spots are all within easy walking distance. When we checked in during the afternoon, the lady at the front desk was kind and welcoming, which gave us a really good first impression. The bed was also very comfortable. We usually skip daily housekeeping for environmental reasons, no matter how many nights we stay. But on the first night, we noticed that the room wasn’t very clean—there was visible dust, even on the small bedside tables. We had to put tissues down just to feel okay about placing a CPAP machine there. It wasn’t ideal, but we let it slide. Then came the issues with the supplies. There were only a few facial tissues left, and less than a third of a roll of toilet paper—for three people staying two nights. The next day, when I went to take a shower, I found that both the conditioner and shower gel dispensers had so little product left in them that nothing would come out, no matter how many times I pumped. So basically, the toiletries provided were barely enough for one shower for three people. After my frustrating shower, I asked my husband to call the front desk to request more. We waited an hour—nothing came. In the end, we had to go out and buy what we needed at a nearby Carrefour Express. And they never followed up—not that night, not even by the time we checked out. This is not a budget hotel. Our two-night weekday stay (Monday and Tuesday) cost €535.54 including tax. For that price, the condition of the room, the poor restocking, and the complete lack of follow-through from the night staff were completely out of line. If I hadn’t booked the room myself, I honestly would’ve thought we were staying in a youth hostel. I hope management seriously reviews their housekeeping and service standards—this location has so much potential, but it’s being let down by poor execution.

I really can not explain how disappointed I am from the service I received from this hotel. Our expectations were really high since it is a Radisson family hotel and has a great location. These were the only reasons why we have booked this hotel but apparently we should have considered “RED” is a lower segment of Radisson’s. First, they gave us wrong rooms and receptionist told me that it’s written in our policy that you may not get the room type you asked for :)))))))) I need to remind that I have booked the most expensive rooms of the hotel… I have never heard such a story in any other Radissons I have stayed. They did nothing to solve it but instead receptionist was just rude and arrogant. Second, room cards they gave to me were never working… I stopped by reception twice every time when I tried to go to my room… Maybe it’s also written in the policy that they don’t promise if room cards work or not :))). Third, the shower gel bottle in my room was empty when I’ve checked in and they never controlled or changed it so as bedsheets. Fourth, there were conference room chairs stored in the wardrobe of my room and some tv connection cables in the drawers under TV unit. They hardly took the chairs away and left the wardrobe dirty. Fifth, dishes at the restaurant were not so clean. Every time I took a plate, there was dirt on them. Sixth, their operations manager emailed me to explain what I have experienced during my stay, I replied back but she didn’t even cared to get back or apologized so maybe now everybody can read what happened… Shame on Radisson Hotels, I was not expecting such low customer satisfaction, we are very disappointed.

This was my 4th stay at this hotel but unfortunately the last. As a Radisson VIP member i received complimentary upgrade to the Suite (room 124) which is i think the biggest in this hotel and is beautifully decorated but this is where it ends.

SLEEP QUALITY First night was totally ruined. Sleep quality is quite essential no matter the room. The windows are not sound proof and here i am disappointed that i was kept awake until almost 5:30am by the noise directly in front of the room from a night club. I addressed the problem to the receptionist at 4:00am and again 5:00am. I said i am not going to pay for a night in the hotel where i get zero sleep. I understand the matter of street noise is outside of the jurisdiction of the hotel as the 50+ number of intoxicated people were on the pavement in front of the hotel and therefore can only be addressed by the police. The receptionist told me at 4/5am she will call the police but the police did not arrive at all to deal with that. Why rhe hotels own security cannot talk common sense with the owners of the neighbour club if this is a residential/hotel area inclining to rest at night hours?

Then again i asked at the reception at the 10:30am after breakfast and was told i will be contacted on the phone but i did not hear back. I received an email in the afternoon and managed to speak with the reception again at 9:30pm and was offered another room but i have 5 suitcases and will not spend my entire evening to pack them and move. I was hoping to have done that earlier today. The receptionist offered another room during the night if i cannot sleep again this final night and i can leave the belongings in the suite as a solution and i will use this if the noise become unbearable again. I have my own earplugs but they were not sufficient to filter out the street noise because the number of people was so high. The second night i used different ear plugs to mask the noise from the drunken people on the street. If you book a room here- stay away from the suites on 1-2-3-4 floor as you are guaranteed no sleep at all on Friday and Saturday night. It’s appalling.

BREAKFAST Excellent and i have only good things to say about it. Except the attendant who told me and insisted on the second day of stay that i did not have breakfast included even the receptionist said and ensured me he has informed the breakfast manager about that. How is communication going?

RADISSON REWARDS I was told at the check in i will get an in room welcome gift for the VIP members but it did never arrived. I asked on the second day what happened but it still never arrived. Not that it is important but where are the routines ?

CHECK OUT Took a minute but then printing two pages for the travel took 15 minutes because the reception did not have any paper. There were 3 people in the reception and the lady who attended me got stressed about it and the two other receptionist did not try to help her but remained on their computers. In the end i got the printed documentation on a back side of some invoices aimed for other people with their personal details, which is GDPR breach. Not ideal.

Too may...
