Do not hesitate because of the queue that you will most possibly find. Stand in line or be clever and go early in the morning. Magnificent location in the entrance of the old city, behind the City Hall. We went three times during our five-day visit in San Sebastian. My personal favorites were the palmeras with chocolate (baked puffpastry), the cocos (coconut-y balls), the rocas with dark chocolate and the pastel vasco (almond cake with creamy filling). You can compare them to any French patisserie. Good coffee, fast service. Their english was challenging but we managed to understand their explanations of the products. We never had the chance to sit at one of the tables on the boulevard (very central pedestrian walk) because we never found a table but everything tasted as good on the go! For the ice-cream lovers they also have a separate ice-cream shop a couple of doors down on the...
Read moreAs a German speaker, you are not welcome here. At least not with the shop assistant who served us at checkout 3 on 30.05.24 at 17:15. When the cashier asked if you were from Germany and the answer was yes, the cashier contorted her face into a snide gag and vented her disgust. My travelling companion was so perplexed that she took the biscuits anyway, even though we shouldn't have taken them with such staff. I recommend everyone to give this person a wide berth. The management should consider sending this person to an open-mindedness...
Read moreFor over a decade this has been a favourite place ❤ I recently had almost a month in san sebastian before the world went sideways. This place was the reason I hiked so often, every day, lol . I usually love their chocolate dipped croissant but this year it was the dipped Palmier. So crisp and delicious. Not your ordinary palmier. Truly, after countless visits to this shop over the years ...there is nothing I would not recommend. The coconut ball is good. The custards very good, the tarts. Truffles great. This year, I even tried the meringue mille feuille ... a bit sweet compared to typical Spanish levels BUT strawberries were just coming in season ...so I served it at home with the fresh berries and coffee and it was stupid good. Coffee is great and the service here is...
