Randomly went into this place on a mid October lunchtime - the main reason we stopped and went in was because they had space, and we're so glad we did!

We sat at the hightables near the Pinxtos Bar and it was a great atmosphere, with a really friendly waiter. They had a menu with English which you could order from the waiter, including the hot pintxos and sharing dishes, and you could also go up the pinxtos bar and get some, and have them added to your bill by telling them your table number.

The secretro pork is absolutely amazing - we've had that cut before in Spain and it's super porky and tender. Make sure when you cut it, you cut across the grain!

We also loved the jamon croquette - very soft yet crispy with a lovely ham taste, and the cold anchovy gilda.

There's so many places to eat in San Sebastian, it's hard to say which ones were amazing when everything was great, but we really liked the service and atmosphere at this place and went back a few days later for dinner.

Highly recommend for a either a quick stop or a...

I cannot think of a worse place to experience pintxos anywhere. The first thing that happens when you walk in the door is that a plate is thrust at you, and they will not take a drink order until you have filled that plate with pintxos. My first and last visit to this place degraded into an argument with the bartender, whose parting words were that there were plenty of other pintxo places in the area. I see that they have now put up fancy digital signage outside of their bar, and they are the one establishment that has posted leafleters around town who annoy passers-by with unsolicited brochures. As an alternative, may I recommend "anywhere but here". As the bartender said so eloquently, there are plenty of other places, and I might add that you would do better at any of them. En fin, de los peores que he visto nunca. Pintxo-lekurik txarrena! Tratu txarra, eta oso...

The food was mediocre for the old part. It is open early which is a plus for families with young children, but it was not worth the stop. Every dish we had was inferior to the same dishes found elsewhere nearby. The worst was the service. Despite being relatively empty, we had to flag someone down after a good amount of time waiting for service. We put in an order and most of our food was brought out relatively promptly. One dish, the Hake, was forgotten. When we received our check we were told we ordered it and needed to pay for it even though they forgot to bring it out over the 45 minutes to an hour we were there eating after ordering - that we could take it to go if we want but either way we will pay for it. No need to waste your time or money on a place like this when there are far better options within...

For me, this is one of the better pintxos places in Donostia. Staff is superfriendly and they always help you out, whether it comes to finding you a place or helping you choose your food. The choice is huge and the service has a more traditional feel than in other tapas places in town, which are quickly falling victim to mass tourism. I absolutely loved every bite and every minute here; I have visited San Sebastian several times and always come back to Bartolo. The pintxos at the bar are very good, but do also try the pintxos that are made to order. I recommend particularly the baked foie and the bacalao ajoarriero. Enjoy!

Pretty good for what it is, I went here twice during my short stay in town. Maybe not the absolutely most outstanding pintxos in town but a very broad variety, and I generally found it easier to get a spot here compared to one or two of the busier places down the street. The pulpo (octopus) in particular was very tender, which is always a good sign. I got that more than once. This place to me is an easy go-to for a quick bite and a beer after getting off the beach.
