We booked a Wine Walk with Tapas. From the name we expected we might do a walk through the vineyards together or walk from one Bodega to the next. We specifically booked this tour, because we were hoping for some nice vineyard walks, but it was more a wine tasting with a bit of information on the particulars of cultivation in Lanzarote (which is very interesting, but nothing more than what your travel guide tells you) and disappointingly no walking through the vineyards. All information on the vineyards was given by our guide, rather than the owners or someone working there. In other tours we have done, the owners gave far more insight into their process of making their wine giving you a feel for their uniqueness and pride in their wine. We saw two big and one small Bodega on our tour. The small Bodega was the highlight as you can learn a little more about the history and is more intimate. Also the guide was nice and the Tapas at the end super tasty. Still: the tour should not be offered as a wine Walk if there is no...
Read moreFantastic tour with Cheryl - Honestly has been one of the best trips we've taken in Lanzarote, would recommend anytime! :)
Cheryl had pre-planned three vineyards all with different fermentation, ingredients, and farming processes so there was a great amount of variation. The pickup process was easy, lovely chats on the drive, great commentary regarding the history of the island, two full glasses at each vineyard (surprised how much we got for a tasting!), and in-depth descriptions of everything including the answers to our many questions.
Finally we finished off with cheese and crackers at the most quaint and wonderful family ran vineyard, that even produces loads of hand-made crafts, and has a lovely playful puppy. Again would seriously recommend, even if you...
Read moreWe did a 3pm wine tour that stopped at three vineyards, including El Grifo and El Rubicon, and a third tiny vineyard that also made their own cheese and had a crafts store. There were seven of us total, which was the perfect size, and our host, Anita, was very knowledgeable, and very welcoming. We learned about the history of Lanzarote, the uniqueness of the vineyard methods, and why the volcanic soil was revolutionary for the wine industry here. Also we really really really like the wines (and I am sad they will be hard to find in the US because they are delicious). If you are interested in trying different wines, learning about the viticulture of Lanzarote and like a late afternoon drive with wine samples and cheese, this is a perfect tour. We...
